To admit that the brewer at Half Pints is a bit of a hophead is an understatement. This India Pale Ale is unabashedly hoppy, not only from the Amarillo hops we add to the brew kettle, but also from the northwest U.S. variety called Cascade that we add directly to the final tank. A firm toasted malt presence forms the background for all of these hops, and we're confident our Little Scrapper IPA could take other so-called IPA's to the mat if called upon to do so. Try it with a curry or a basket of beer battered fish & chips. Serve in a glass at 8 degrees celcius. Unpasturized.

Sampled at the GCBF. Medium brown-amber. Tobacco on the nose. Caramel, grapefruit, and pine on the mouth. My apologies for such an "average" IPA review... this has average tastes, but itís just done really, really well.

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2016 Burnt orange color, tropical aromas and taste. Medium bitterness, this is a very enjoyable IPA. Always been one of my favorites

On tap a kings head, pours a hazy copper/orange with a large off-white head. Sweet caramel malt aroma with sweet fruity hops, light floral and citrus. Clean caramel malt, with smooth fruity citrus hops and a steady bitterness. Very nice and drinkable.

Wonderfully hoppy with a light copper body. Light head that collapses slowly. Citrus and playful floral notes, I find similarities to earl grey tea in the finishing notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ Boon Burger. Pours a clear amber with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a decent amount of citrus that is supported by a growing pine and a touch of resin. Flavor is more pine forward with notes of grass and resin underlying as well as a grain backbone.

Pours clear pale amber with one finger of loose off-white head, good retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Nose is pithy citrus, light caramel malt, mild herbal. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, lingering bitter finish. (4/5) A nice little A/IPA from a reliable brewery. Maybe a little too little - it could stand to be a bit more bold, but as it stands, itís pretty close to sessionable, so thatís OK too. Worth checking out. (15/20)

Iím not a huge fan of cask ales. I donít get them. I prefer the more lively palate of keg beers. Still this is a nice IPA with some sweetness to balance it out. Tropical fruit as everyone else has said.

This was spectacular. I even might prefer it to the regular Little Scrapper. (Iím only 90% certain Iím rating the right beer. Was described to me at the Grove as Little Scrapper dry hopped). Tropical fruit and like a sweet vanilla cream aroma. Taste is hoppy but well balanced with fruity sweetness. Smooth creamy palate. Really nice IPA on cask at the Grove.

Another experimental beer from Half Pints at the Flatlanders Beer Fest in Winnipeg. Hops taste fresh and grassy, even have some of that marijuana element to them. Tastes very herbal, bitter, but not intensely so. A nice variation on regular scrapper. 70 IBU.

Re-rate after my half-assed original one years ago. Orange amber body, bubbles and a foamy off-white head and nice lacing. Pine, sweet maltys, bubblegum on the aroma. Taste is rich and semi-bitter, sweet grainy malts, some earthy danky hops in there, too. Creamy smooth mouthfeel. Not crazy bitter, but a well balanced, well crafted IPA. Score stays the same.

Bottle: Nearly clear, light amber with a short, white head. Grapefruit, orange aroma. Taste is strong citrus.....grapefruit, solid grapefruit-peel..an almost leafy bitter. A straightforward and moderately bitter IPA.

ENG: 341ml bottle from Liquor Mart in Winnipeg. Poured into the tulip. Orange, opalescent color, very small (!), tan head. Light pine and citrus aromas mixed with herbs in the background. Tastes piney and grapefruit, with hints of herbs. Delicate sweety pine bitter aftertaste. Medium to high carbonation and medium body, creamy. Overall a bit too balanced, delicately bitter IPA (maybe a better idea would be to name it APA, rather than IPA). Not overwhelmed by any specific flavor, for one it might be too light for an IPA. Itís good even so, but not as an IPA.

PL: Butelka 341ml kupiona w Liquor Mart w Winnipeg. Przelana do kieliszka. Pomarańczowa, opalizująca barwa, bardzo mała (!), jasna piana. Aromaty delikatnie sosnowe, cytrusowe, uzupełnione ziołowymi gdzieś w tle. W smaku sosna i grejfrut, z nutami ziůł. W posmaku delikatna słodkawa sosnowa goryczka. Nasycenie średnie do wysokiego oraz średnie odczucie w ustach, kremowe. Podsumowując nieco zbyt zbalansowane, delikatnie goryczkowe IPA (chyba lepszym pomysłem było by nazwać to piwo APA). Żaden ze smakůw nie jest tu zbytnio uwydatniony, dla niektůrych to piwo może okazać się zbyt lekkie. Mimo wszystko smakuje dobrze, ale raczej nie jako IPA
