COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our buddy Phil is a friend of good beer, so Phil’s Pils must be impressive ode to good taste. Thankfully (Phil would say) it’s the polar opposite of most Pilsners available today. Brewed using two-row pale, melanoidin, and crystal malts, this lager is chock full of malty goodness on top of German Hallertau and Czech Saaz hops. This brew is also dry hopped with a blend of Mount Hood and more Saaz. Our Pils actually tastes like malt & hops – what a novel idea! Try it with a slow smoked rack of ribs or a wedge of Pepper Jack cheese. Serve at 6 C. in a Pilsner glass. Unfiltered. 30 IBU

To me, this did not taste like a Bohemian or Czech Pils, so I was expecting somethign different. But nonetheless, a nice summertime beer that is rapidly becoming my second Half Pints session beer after Little Scrapper

Pours of a dark straw colour with a good lasting head, and plenty of lacing. A nice crispy beer with some grass notes at first then the hops come in with citrus notes. Sweeter than I would have expected, but not over-powering.

33 cl bottle, Calgary, AB, Canada from Eric. Medium gold, honey and floral hop aroma with some faint green veg. Sweet, sharp hops, then a clean peppery finish.

Wow. Thanks CARDS04 aka Steve! Love this! Dark gold with a creamy white head. Aroma of slight DMS, sweet grain, sweet malt, honey, non descript fruit note and a noble hop presence. Taste is pleasant. More of a sweet grain/malt/almost honey note. Nice noble hop profile. Crisp, well carb, medium light body and a clean finish!

Bottle. This is like any other good pilsener, but amped up. More aroma, more flavour, more to love. Some nice hop character, nicely balanced, and a little more full-bodied.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2013 Citrus scent, nothing spectacular. Certainly a thicker mouth feel for a pilsener, which is nice. Interesting combination of malt and citrus with a nice amount of hops following. Generally not overly fond of pilseners, but this is quite nice.

Pours a clear yellowish golden color with a frothy white head and nice lace. Aroma of yeast, pilsen malts and spicy Nobel hops. Taste is rich malts, spicy hops and a bit of fruity esters. A nice clean and crisp dry finish with a medium low carbonation. Excellent pilsner and this is one of my least favorite categories.

Half pints tap take over at the Rev tonight! Beer 1: Pours a clear pale golden colour with small but dense white head that laces the glass with lightly. Aroma is spicy, floral noble hops, and a nice malty balance. Flavour is spicy hops, mild-medium bitterness which lasts and lingers into the after taste, some sweet caramel tries to balance the bitterness, crisp with a medium dry finish.
