4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Iím pretty far from being a connoisseur of stouts and porters but Iíve pretty much fallen in love with them over the last little while. Anywho, Half Pints is a local brewery so I might be a bit biased but honestly, Iím just loving this. Iíve had it plenty of times in the past and always thought it was ok but enjoying this beer at cellar temperature is kinda orgasmic.
As to be expected, dark chocolate and coffee notes appear in both aroma and taste. Texture is surprisingly light and thin for a stout. I actually wish it had a bit more of a heavier feel to it. But then again, it probably makes it that much more easier to drink!
Bottom line, not an overly complicated stout by an means, but itís really enjoyable and perfect for those cooler fall evenings.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2013 hints of chocolate and coffee, OK head, quite crisp on the tongue, layers of flavour including a hint of burnt carmel, donít drink cold (just slightly cool), a touch hot for stout, tough to beat if you like a good stout

Aromas of molasses, candi sugar, dates. Flavour is roasted with coffee and dark chocolate. Flavour doesnít come across as sweet as the nose would suggest. Somewhat thin, with a bitter, roasted finish. Good stout.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at revolution with lactose and chocolate. Aroma of choose, roasted malts and sweet creamy coffee. Taste is coffee, roasted malts, sweet chocolate, creamy hot chocolate and slightly bitter cocoa on the finish. Excellent coffee stout and a joke twist with the addition of lactose leaves a ton of flavor all over but perfect for this time of year and the next 8 months.

I love this beer - definitely one of my favourite darks of any style. You can get a lot of great information from the other reviews here, but my personal note is that temperature plays an especially significant role with this beer - one reason why getting it on tap at a local restaurant isnít always a great idea.

Pours a dark brown/ black with brown head and some lacing. Aroma of coffee, light chocolate, roasted malts. Taste is cold coffee, bittersweet chocolate, roasted malts, light acidity. Medium to low body and low carbonation. A bit watery. I wish it had a bit more body. Ok but not great.

Pretty good stout. Lots of coffee and chocolate. Some dark plum flavour possibly on the background. A good beer from a local brewery.

341 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with medium head that dissipates quickly leaving spotty lacing. Aromas of fresh roast coffee, dark chocolate, and heavily roasted malts. Flavors of black coffee, ash, and watery vanilla.
