4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
I’m pretty far from being a connoisseur of stouts and porters but I’ve pretty much fallen in love with them over the last little while. Anywho, Half Pints is a local brewery so I might be a bit biased but honestly, I’m just loving this. I’ve had it plenty of times in the past and always thought it was ok but enjoying this beer at cellar temperature is kinda orgasmic.
As to be expected, dark chocolate and coffee notes appear in both aroma and taste. Texture is surprisingly light and thin for a stout. I actually wish it had a bit more of a heavier feel to it. But then again, it probably makes it that much more easier to drink!
Bottom line, not an overly complicated stout by an means, but it’s really enjoyable and perfect for those cooler fall evenings.

Not a lot going on here. It’s not a terrible tasting beer by any means, but I’d rather sip on something bolder, heavier and flavourful... something more "stout".

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
pours clear dark brown with a very nice dark crema offering a good retention and some lacing traces. fresh coffee beans, burnt hazelnuts, chewy chocolate - never too sweet, but also a nice red fruity profile, lot of Pepper, some woodsy lightly tannic notes, resin. moderate carbonation, light body - oily, dry and bold resinous-bitter coffee finish. pretty solid coffee stout.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Beer pours a dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is bitter coffee and some borderline bitter chocolate/sweet chocolate. There is also a roasted barley note. The taste is nice. Bitter coffee, bittersweet chocolate, roast and a bitter finish. Leaves a nice sticky residue on the lips. Nice body for being a 5.6% ABV. A nice sessionable coffee stout that is slightly reminiscent of The Poet by New Holland. Thanks again to Cards04 for this one!

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2013 hints of chocolate and coffee, OK head, quite crisp on the tongue, layers of flavour including a hint of burnt carmel, don’t drink cold (just slightly cool), a touch hot for stout, tough to beat if you like a good stout
