3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: NOV 30, 2012 only sampled this beer - but really enjoyed it! caramel notes on the nose complement the slightly sweet honey and floral notes on the palate! A fine Manitoba beer!
Re-rate: attractive black pour with nice off white head and lacing. Nice hoppy nose...full mouthfeel. Dark roasty malt flavours, with piney and hoppy flavours. Smooth and velvety with a bit of carbonation...almost tastes like a black IPA

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
341ml bottle pours brown in color with a big off-white head that settles and leaves some nice lacing on side of glass. Aroma is roasted malts and some citrusy hops. Taste is light roasted malty sweetness with some nuttiness and a mild hoppy bitterness. Nicely balanced and an easy drinker. Very enjoyable.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Single bottle purchased in fron Zyn Liqour in Calgary, AB on 04/15/2011. Colour: dark brown with really, really high spotty head. Way to high. Nose: Nut is strongly evident, but so is cigarette smoke. Also has hints of applewood and something citrusy...almost lemon. Taste: Medium sweet, medium sour, light bitter. Some smoked wood but also a dominant tang that is almost annoying because it takes away from the rich bitter nut that makes a solid brown.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a fairly dark brown colour with a big tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts, nuts, grains, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is sweet throughout with a dry bitterness present as well, very unique taste for a brown ale. Medium body, average carbonation and a little thick on the palate. Overall a great brown ale, really enjoyable brew.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap. Dark Chestnut brown. Large head. Spotty lacing. Nose is rich caramel and fresh malt. Some sweetness in there too. Taste is full of more malt, caramel, toffee, roasted oats and a hint of bitterness. Palate is somewhat dry, not overcarbonated, Pretty good brown ale.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This was poured from a 341ml bottle at 53F. It pours a dark brown with some light getting through. It has a 2 finger tan head. It has quite a a bit of lacing and carbonation.
The aroma is dominated by spicy hops and some light carmel, toffee.
The flavor is not what you might expect from a brown. Itís like they decided to blend a brown and a pale ale together. I am getting good amounts of carmel, biscuit and some roasted malts even a little burnt notes too. Then the cascade hops thrown in there. To be honest I like it. I find it to be well done.
It finishes with the lingering bitterness and a little citrus that you would find on some pale aleís. Half pintís always churns out great stuff. They just took something here and ran with it. Do yourself a favor and pick this up.
