Flavour was quite sweet and under developed. No real carbonation made this sweet and apple juice like. Finishes with a sweet note. JHunter (248), British Columbia, Canada

Pours a nice dark mahogany colour with a thin head.
Chalky and sugary aroma that holds a hint of orange zest and warms to a ripe plum like fruit tone, some chocolate too.
Flavour was sweet malt, dark fruit with a cloying syrupy alc. presence. A little rough around the edges I thought.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Pours a clear dark amber with a very quickly dispersed head. Aroma is sweet and malty and very one-dimensional. Flavour is pleasant - amber malt, tastes like an ESB more than a Belgian, just like their Son. Weird. Again, a nutty taste but this time more amber malt than the son, and even less Belgian in character. The alcohol adds a little zip in the finish, and a chocolaty malt character (maybe from the biscuit? I don’t know...) adds a chalky cocoa note. I can also taste the same banana notes in this that were in the Son - not banana in a witbier sense, but in a banana-muffin sense. Body is thin and under-carbonated. This is really an ok beer, but it has me confused with the style... I can’t quite enjoy it in context. thepegjett (109), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Pours a muddy orange brown with a small circle of foam around the glass. Roasted coffee and chocolate malt nose as well as some fruit peel, biscuit and saaz. Tastes sweet and malty with caramel, coffee, chocolate cookie crumb, and a dark fruityness, finishing on a sour, chewy hop flavour. Medium bodied, thick, satisfying moutfeel. Really great beer. A new favourite for sure.
