Nothing beats kicking back on the deck at the cabin and taking in a classic Manitoba sunset. Our Hefeweizen captures that jovial atmosphere with a hazy golden body from a blend of wheat, two-row pale, and Munich malts. German grown Hallertau hops balance the fruity wheat malts with a light, spicy character. Finally, a burst of banana and clove aromas fill the air due the specially selected yeast culture. Try it with a light meal of grilled bratwurst, hot mustard, and potato salad. Serve at 6 C. in a tall Weizen glass. Bottle will contain sediment – which should be poured into the beer. 13 IBU

341 ml bottle from MBLC Liquor Mart in Winnipeg, MB, sampled 6/26/08. Hazy orange amber colour with a mostly diminishing fizzy off-white head. Banana, citrus, and lightly spicy aroma. Lemon, banana, and clove flavours with a lemony, lightly acidic, and dry bitter finish. Light bodied, fizzy, but refreshing. I certainly wouldn’t complain if I had a locally made weizen like this in NS.

Aroma is of yeast, clove and floral sweetness. Taste is the sweet graininess paired with a surprisingly bitter hop character. Appearance is a hazy yellow / amber body. Lace head retains well.

Pours a cloudy gold with a big fizzy initial head that quickly dissipates into almost nothing and leaves no lace. Aroma is clove, bubblegum, banana, wheat and light citrus. Taste is spicy clove, banana, grainy wheat, mild bitterness, mild lemon, and a touch of bubblegum.

Rich and refreshing wheat and citrus taste. Not too sharp or overbearing either. Well done again by half pints!

Jaune nuageux avec un col blanc moyen. L’arôme de blé, de levure et d’agrumes. La saveur est d’agrumes, de blé et d’épices légères, comme la coriandre ou tarte à la citrouille. Facile à boire et rafraîchissant.

Pours a hazy dark yellow. Great banana and clove aromas. Nice sweet banana and malt flavours with a nice slightly hoppy finish. Very good hefeweizen.

341ml brown bottle with unnecessary greenish white wax on the cap. This is an older bottle since the last batch was released in bombers and this has the old Half Pints label design. Deep gold colour, hazy, full white head. Good lace. Nose has nice soft lemon peel citrus hints. Nice wheaty flavour, tangy citrus-lemon notes but not as much clove or banana as I would expect in a hefeweizen. Dryish finish. Body is light, soft carboantion which serves the beer well. Not bad as is, but a fresher bottle will be sought and a rerate is pending.
