Pours thick. Very little head, ending with minimal lacing. Low carbonation. Tons of coffee and carmel up front. Finishes toasted, hoppy and dry.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (chocolate / cocoa powder, roasted/burnt grain, husks), lightly hoppy (grapefruit), with light notes of paint, vanilla, and plastic. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, husky. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. And so at last I come to the end of my little journey through the beers of Hall. This is basically the same quality as the other three I’ve tried, there’s not much to say that I haven’t already...husky/vegetal, raw, clunky, overly sweet, syrupy...sadly, these are the trademarks of Hall’s products across the board. The good news for them is that quality isn’t required for success in the beer (or wine) world. There are dozens of other breweries in CO that make beer just as poor (or worse) but still seem to sell quite well...Upslope, Tommyknocker, SKA, Steamworks, etc. Who knows what sells...I gave up long ago trying to understand it.

650 ml bottle from Denverdiv. Thanks. Pours a nearly opaque black color with a small tan head that slowly recedes to a fine film. The aroma is sweet with chocolates, mocha, and vanilla. The taste is similar to the nose with more chocolates, mocha, roasted grains and a touch of earthy walnuts. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry with lingering roasted grains. Overall: A decent stout. I’m impressed.
