Porter that has been in Pinot barrel for three months. Amazing chocolat with subtile pinot aroma. dark ruby red/brown in colour with toffe coloured head.
Best of both worlds beer and wine!!!!

Dark brown color, huge Brett nose with lactic notes am Pinot noir. Light body. Slightly acidic. Lots of Pinot notes with some roasty character. Unique. A bit too sour, but nice.

Bottles from Hallertau and Glengarry. Hazy, deep red-brown pour with minimal brown head and lacing. Nose is pinot noir and roasted malt. Medium-light body and light carbonation yield an entirely average mouth feel. Pinot grapes, smokey medium roast malt, some chocolate, oaky umami flavor middle and late, Belgian yeast and some notable Brettanomyces funkiness. For maximum enjoyment, let this one warm and breathe a bit. Can stray towards too much wine flavor, but overall is quite fun and definitely off the beaten track. This makes it worth a try in my book.

Bottle at Beervana. Pours almost pitch black, just leaving some red hues on the edges. A small tan head is produced. Can definitely smell the pinot notes on this one. Over ripe berries and anice mingle quite well on the nose. Very ripe berries in the taste - mainly raspberry. Slight cherry tones and some brett play around with chocolate tones. Where this one falls short is in the mouth feel. Starts off well but falls away far too quickly. A good and unique mix of flavours though. Solid effort

Almost black with non existent head, very softly carbed. Nose: fruity (cherry?), chocolate. Taste: balanced roasty porter with interesting tannic finish. Very complex and enjoyable, some brett notes, earthy bitterness, slightly astringent.

Really bright bubblegum and red currant fruit on the nose with notes of bitter chocolate and coffee coming through as beer warms up. Nice flavours but is let down by a thin body. Nice brett charicters work well with the dark malt notes in general.

Aroma: yeasty, a hint of chocolate, strong berries and fruit, reminds me of flavoured gum;
Appearance: slightly murky, deep brown, thin rocky head, no lacing;
Taste: slightly sweet and sour, with just a touch of bitterness but not hoppy;
Palate: thin texture, medium bodied, sweet and sour finish and slightly astringent.
Overall: 16 dollars a bottle might be too much, it is interesting but a little light on its feet. I would have thought it was a sweet lambic.

Hmmm... such hype around this one, and it almost... almost makes the mark it set for itself. Deep deep black porter with a auburn tint, reddish-brown head. Nose is full of pinot noir notes; lots of cherry and chocolate. Very velvety smooth on the tounge but, then... hmmm. Too watery, too much raspberry not enough of the coffee notes I’d expect from a porter. The wine-aging has tipped a bit far on this one. Still, a fascinating ale, but not one I’d choose if I was given the choice of a good porter. Or a good pinot noir.

A bright red hue. Clear. Light carbonation.
Aromas of brett, berries, fruit. Hints of chocolate and cherries. Pepper and some other spices. Lovely aroma.
Quite dry on the palate - quite acidic. Spicy, chocolate, berries, cherries. A bit phenolic. Nice dry finish with spice and some hops.

Bottle at Malthouse - vintage 09.2007. Pours black with a brown head. Big fruity aroma, sour like Rodenbach Grand Cru.
Sour cherries in the taste, oak tannins pervade nicely and overtake the roast malt throughout the taste until the finish.
Unfortunately the body seems a bit thin, which lets it down slightly. But a crazy beer, like a rosty Rodenbach.

Yep, that’s a big score. Is Greig on the sauce, you ask? Well, not really, it’s just that my mind is blown by this beer. The word "complex" is thrown round a lot in beer circles, but this beer wears that adjective like a crown. It’s like a pinot noir, a great porter, and the trappist beer Orval had a sordid love triangle, and somehow produced this wonderful thing. The world needs more beers like this. I shall cease my delirious ramblings now.
