tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - DEC 29, 2011
First tasted this in the Golden Lion, Northallerton in August 1993. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear gold in colour with a thick white head. Strong aroma of dusty hops in the short nose. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt base gives a short digestive biscuit note with marmalade fruit. Dusty hop resins impart a dry resiny aftertaste. Slight hint of malt in at the finish. An ok session bitter.

From cask at Charlies, handwritten chalk board tap sign which said Hambleton Best Bitter, 3.6%. Pours cloudy orange with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is malt driven and light hoppy. Flavour holds a mild bitternes to a dry malt base. Ends slight breadish.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Wootton WMC. A yellow gold coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. A very dry bitter both in taste and aroma. A little yeasty in some ways and thena bitter finish comes in. Sessionably low in ABV but not sure you could take too much of the dryness.
