Ibrew2or3 (1705), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA May 7, 2008 0.5L bottle pours deep deep amber with infra red edges and tan head. The aroma is a bit different than I was expecting but very inviting with roasted to burnt malts, rich sweet toffee, earthiness, molasses and some cigar ash. Nice mix of notes. The taste enters with medium body and distinct creaminess. The taste starts roasty and quickly turns sweet with toffee, molasses and vanilla. By midway rich fresh roasty malts take over along with burnt to ashy malts and some earthiness under foot. I love the way all the notes come together here. YUM.
TheGrandMaster (1451), Auckland, New Zealand Aug 18, 2008 Bottle (in NZ), pours a deep mahogany brown with a light tan head. A strong fruity aroma, some caramal malt, spicy and a whiff of alcohol. Good fruit mouthfeel, with smooth caramal and toasted malt. The swallow thins out the palate, there’s a touch of metallicness before drying out nicely with increased hop bitterness that leaves you wanting more. It’s clear why this has been a winner. kp (6200), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Aug 13, 2008 Date: 06/20/2008

hopdog (4568), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 9, 2008 500ml Bottle. Poured a dark brown with reddish edges and a large sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, a little earthy, and light roast. Tastes of cocoa, caramel, roast, and light coffee. Thinner body. nearbeer (1236), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Aug 4, 2008 500 ml. Nearly opaque mahogany with a half-inch of creamy lasting foam above. Nice frosting on the pint glass. Earthy-spiced chocolate, caramel, blackberry and raisin aroma is delicious. Flavor follows aroma but with some added dry-side ballast of hickory wood, ash and char. Nice aftertaste of cocoa, chalk and slight cherry. Medium-heavy body is one of the smoothest ever. This brilliant session beer is just watery enough to keep from being sticky and has a nearly chalky finish. Pub (4046), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Jul 28, 2008 Bottle conditioned, 500ml from Booths of Longton, Lancs. Almost black with tan head. This has a tarry, liquorice aroma which follows into the flavour, smooth, slightly sweet with molasses notes. Rich, fruity with slightly smoky malt. Reasonable.
