starfireming (309), Richmond, Virginia, USA Mar 4, 2007 Clear red body, thin white head. Fruity molasses sugar aroma. Poor palate. Apple flavour with a bloody ton of sugar, quite odd, terrible finish. Neh.
BlackDonald (1040), North Carolina, USA Apr 30, 2008 This was friggin’ awful! Fruity sweetness and very sugary like sorghum. LIght caramel maltiness, somewhat vinous, and bittersweet. Finishes somewhat soda like. I would never drink this again even if I was celiac. Angeloregon (1898), Portland, Oregon, USA Apr 22, 2008 Bottle found at John’s Marketplace in Portland, Oregon--Poured a rich amber body with a small whitish head that quickly dissipated. Nose of funky vinegar and caramel. I thought this beer was infected, but came to decide it is actually supposed to taste this way. This beer is gnarly in a bad way. If I had a gluten intolerance, I think I would just opt for cider over this pricy brew. Slick (1956), Minnesota, USA Mar 19, 2008 Nice dark amber color, small off white head that faded quickly leaving nothing behind. The aroma was mildly malty some caramel or toffee and a slight bitter sweet side coming through as well. The flavor is Funky starts out a bit acidy on the tongue with some sweetness and finishes up sweet and empty for flavor.it’s pretty thin all around and just doesn’t do it for me but i guess if i had to go gluten free i’d have to get used to it.Overall it’s nasty and only worth a one time try . hotstuff (3038), Indiana, USA Mar 13, 2008 Bottle. Small tan head that mostly diminished, fair amount of lacing, transparent, very little carbonation observed, and an orange hue. Nose was hoppy, some fruit notes, and sugary. Yuck. Ditto for the flavor with a dry finish. Yuck again. Tingly and dry mouthfeel. Medium in body. This beer is a disaster all the way around. Awful nose and flavor. Close to being a drainpour. Do not waste your money or time with this one IMO. bhensonb (2887), Woodland, California, USA Feb 29, 2008 Interesting aromas of fruits. Light stone fruit and citrus? Nice copper color with a beige head that just flattened. Flavor is really different. Suggests a little cola, and there is a touch of dark fruit. Something vinous, like it spent some time in a brandy barrel. It is not as dry or bitter as I’d expect. Finish is fruity/floral. Extremely unusual, but very good for gluten free. Probably the best such I have tried, though the Quest ales are also good.
