On tap at the brewery -- a delicious combination of flavors. HammerHeart is so original, and I love the Scandinavian flavors they contribute to the MPLS/StP beer scene. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Keg @ Republic. Deep chestnut pour with a small head. Nose is fairly spicy. Some toasted grain. Mild vanilla. Fat toffee. Flavor is interesting. Peaty TCP, vanilla, toasted grain. Sort of hot on the finish. Busy without being overwhelming. Full body, soft carb .

On tap at Republic. Pours a near clear earthy amber with a tan head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a smoked near notes with a bit of sweet grain and a hint of barrel underlying. Flavor has a combination of sweet grains and smoke notes with a rye barrel backbone.

Tap at Hammerheart. Even sweeter than the aquavit barrel, and no spice. I liked the aquavit better but this barrel worked well also.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of whiskey, spice, hints of oak, slight caramel, toffee, dark fruits come through, hints of earth as well. Taste was a mix of earth whiskey, oak, slight spice, yeast into some dark fruit, lots of toffee, caramel, hints of smoke, finishing fairly boozy, slightly bitter.

Draft pour @ Hammerheart. Pours a nice dark orange with tan head. Lots of barrel on the nose, too much perhaps. I get some caramel in there as well. Taste is barrel, peat and smoke.

Dark brown color with a small head. Peat smoke and rye spice aroma. Caramel, bready, malty flavor. Plenty of smoke. Rye drops off a bit from the aroma, but still there. Thick mouthfeel.

On tap @ HammerHeart. Pours a hazy, deep orange appearance with a tan head. Peat smoky, herbal, campfire ashy aroma. Chewy cookie, spicy, lightly boozy, caramel, ashy flavor. Not a ton of barrel notes.
