Fruity taste with raisins and a slightly tart and musty element. The finish is fruity with moderate bitterness. Not bad, but I don’t think this is on top form. One to rate again. jimthree (9), Bedfordshire, England does not count | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 11, 2009 1st Rate! Enjoyed this beer at the Wheatsheaf in Ewell. Nice drinkable session beer, with a good taste, not too strong on flavors but well balanced. Great colour, amber golden, perhaps. Really fresh and fruity, rosy, chalky apples. Still and smooth with a fantastic dry, bittersweet toffee aftertaste. A tasty beer. Smooth, drinkable session. A little raw and appley on the nose with some slight peaty malt too. Sweet and fruity flavour with the peaty notes coming more to the front. Quite burnt and roasty. Interesting but not amazing. Appley finish brings back the roughness of the aroma.
