3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 14, 2005 This is a great beer to stand around and pour over a barbequed ham as it’s cooking. In a pail of ice, this beer is hands down better than all the macro light beers out there. I’ve shotgunned a lot of these in my day. My dad always buys it, and has an antique Hamm’s cooler to put it in. It brings back many fond memories.

If you live in the upper midwest you know of the legendary Hamms name...remember the Hamms bear? overall I find this to be just as good as beer as any

This beer wasn’t that bad but, I don’t see me getting it again. If I needed something to drink and it was all there was, I would go for it. We had Hamm’s last year and it was that bad. Hamm’s Special Light is just the same with a little less taste.

Tailgating 2004: Swill Beer #1. Tailgating season is once again upon us. We’re not allowed to bring bottles of beer to the tailgating festivities, so instead of killing ourselves trying to find good beer in cans, we make delicious homebrew to bring in a Party Pig, and accompany it with the worst canned beers available. This year’s first choice: Hamm’s Special Light.
Pours a light yellow, slightly golden hue with a loud fizz. Head roars to life like a can of soda, and quickly drops to nothingness just as fast. Small streams of bubbles continuously run along the side of the glass. Sour grainy and grassy aroma, like walking through a field of straw that is overdue for harvest after a rainstorm while getting slight whiffs of pig urine from the farm next door. Very light flavor of maize and grains along with a definite hint of metal (copper?). Sour finish full of rice and corn husks. Decent mouthfeel, though: not thin, and decently carbonated. I feel like I’m back working on a farm when I drink this.

Easy to drink. Full flavored and not watery like so many other light beers. A good alternative.

Born from the land of sky blue water!? This beer is good for the price, but life is too short for drinking this crap.

I also enjoy the hell out of this beer. Very easy to drink and at 9 bucks a case there's not a whole lot of bad things you can say.

Nice golden color small to no head at all mild.mild sweet malt aroma with plenty of carbonation the taste is a bit weak some malt, mild hopping, and lots of water. Not bad,it definately will cool you down on a hot day,and at the price you can afford to invite the in-laws over for a brew.

There is not a dark thing wrong with this beer if you are looking for a cheap drunk. Just throw it in the freezer and throw em back.
