Commercial Description:
Another classic beer produced by Pabst Brewing Company. From the land of sky blue waters, Hamms is truly the beer refreshing. Hamms has a legacy of quality and tastyness that is unrivaled by any beer known to man. Back in the olden days, Hamms was traded by the Spanish for spices and fine silks from the orient, which were then transported across the seas and traded for more Hamms

Grainy nose, with some sweet malt evident, faint hops, but that’s par for the style...wait, now I get it, it’s injecting some bare bitterness into the sweet malt factor, arriving at a funky feel. Definitely not bad, not unpleasant, with some character. Taste: not much here, mostly moisture. Slim flavors, if any...grainyness, at best. Malt is shy in this respect, the water rises above anything else. It’s like lemonade without the lemon, and Kool-Aid without the Kool. I can’t really recommend Hamm’s at all to anyone, unless your chief factors in deciding on a beer are cheapness of price and wateryness of flavor. There are many out there that fall into this category, Lord Love ’Em. I have a hard time knocking it...it’s not bad, it is what it is...but, it’s not much. And they had a cool macot once, dress up in his costume, visit a strip club, and see what happens...

I remember this was my grandfather’s beer. The Hamm’s beer commercials of the 50s and 60s were entertaining. The animated permanent tavern advertising was top notch. Strange that someone posted a 1951-1953 bottle image on the left of this website. The Hamm’s beer of the late 1960s and early 1970s (as I remember stealing one from Grandpa’s fridge) tasted different than the Hamm’s today. Pours an average light golden young popcorn yellow with not much head. Aroma is like corn flakes and some thin hops. Taste? What taste? It’s very very light. Like a very watered down lager. Finish is thin and carbonated. Better than Budweiser and Diet Budweiser.

this was passed onto us in a can from a friend at NMU, apparently its a big deal with their frat. thats what it looks smells and tastes like - a frat beer with watery attributes that is a cheap drunken evening.

I was excited that this would give me a big surprise. Well, it was a bit of a lacking beer. It seemed that it was missing something. But hey, the bear is cool!

smells pretty foul, tastes watery and fairly unpleasant, and doesnt look particularly appetizing. but you know what? for buying a 24pack for 11 bucks, i’ll get over it. drink this if you want to get drunk. no reason to otherwise.

As another reviewer put it, Hamms is certainly the favorite of America’s Dad’s. It certainly was with mine. I was hooked on their commericials as a child in the early 80’s, which was perhaps the best beer advertising campaign ever! It’s interesting that it’s popularity seems to have declined to the point where I would say it’s scarce, at least here in CA.

Hamms, it’s kind of like the taste of the beer that is used in quarters after it has had a quarter in it for a while.

Can: Just another Pale Lager, drinkable. Was surprised to find it in a supermarket in Panamá City.
