Draft at brewpub. On the beer list is stated Champion of the Carolinas 2007. This is an american pale ale. Nice hoppiness, and sweet aroma. Best of the bunch at Hams. My usual when I get the growler filled.

The first time I drank this beer it was about six months ago, and it tasted like it had a dirty old peg leg in it. What I really mean to say is that I did not enjoy it at that time. Tonight; however, it was quite enjoyable. I think the brewer must have eliminated whatever hop it was that was giving it that bitter flavor in favor of something with a much grassier, citrusy flavor. It was very refreshing. The color was still the same golden amber. The head was a bit yellowish and the aroma was of grapefruit and grass. The smell reminded me of my childhood in Florida gathering grapefruits from the yard on a Sunday morning. I had this beer with a Ham’s chicken burger (all organic by the way) and the fresh flavors cut through the greasier flavors quite nicely.

Growler courtesy of elmatador00 as part of the growler swap. Pours a clear amber gold with a moderate yellow-white head that lasted until the very end and left very nice lacing on the glass all the way to the bottom. Pleasant aroma of grapefruit and some light pine. The flavor was well balanced between caramel and bitter grapefruit and light pine. A biscuit flavor emerges at the finish. A very solid and enjoyable APA.

Sampled on draught at the 11th Annual Knoxville Brewer’s Jam. Clear dark yellow pour, with a decent creamy head. Floral hop aroma. Light sweetness up front, with some bitterness coming in and adding a nice dryness in the finish.

On tap at the Durham WBF. Gold with a creamy beige head. Strong grapefruit sweet caramel nose. Lots of grapefruit flavor balanced out well by sweet caramel. Very good!
