The_Beer_God (2804), Newport News, Virginia, USA Nov 26, 2006 GABF 2006. Called Mausers Schwarzbier. Dark brown to near black. Nose is roasty malts, dark bread, and light treacle. Taste is dark bread, more roasted malts, treacle and light coffee-ish notes. Body is light-medium with mild carbonation. Ends with more roasty malts, treacle and dark bread. brentfeesh (882), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Sep 26, 2006 Sampled at the 10th annual Brewgrass festival in Ashville. This may or may not be the same brew. They were calling it Mauser’s Schwartz bier at the festival…different recipe?? Who knows?? Pours walnut colored, and lightly hazy with a creamy head. Light aroma, light honey toasted grain with hints of molasses. Very light and hard to gather aroma. Flavor is also light with grains and molasses. Quite drinkable though. Easy light body with good carbonation levels. Easy drinking. 00cobraR (934), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Nov 8, 2004 Pours black with a nice tan head. flavor and aroma are both that of smokey malt and this brew had a nice balance of hops. this is a nice brew.
