Bloody hell all these Hanby beers look the same. They taste pretty similar too. Meaning, erm, shite. Unbrewed malt, a truck load of tea, some tobacco and straw with a ancient hop finish. Bad bad bad. Ok there is some fruit, mainly orange, plus a faint bitterness in the finish but the overall impression is one of a complete donkey. Svesse (2686), Hässelby, Sweden

Malty, nutty nose with notes of toffee, dark fruit and butter. Malty, nutty taste with toffee, butter, apricots and a fairly dry finish with dusty hops. Not very exciting, but drinkable. hughie (3090), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England

Buttery malt aroma with wet cloth, not as bad as it sounds. Malty taste with some fruity sourness in the background. Slight bitterness. This was quite good. Aroma is sweet with caramal and molasses. Caramal in the flavour again, with licorice. A creamy bitter mouthfeel. A bit different to the usual bitter this. harrisoni (6947), Ashford, Kent, England
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 27, 2006 Cask conditioned hand pull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. After 4 days of heavy Belgian beers, this came as a real relief. I was expecting the worst, but this all but restored my faith in British bitters. Copper colour with beige head. Hey this isn’t bad. Some red fruit in the aroma along with hop and faint yeast. Fullish in mouth helped by good malts with pleasant slightly sweet strawberries which then carry on to balance the dry finish. Very good bitter DJMonarch (6941), Northwich, Cheshire, England

The aroma is weird with primary notes of caramel. The flavor is of caramel and lots of bitter hops, leading to a dry woddy end. chriso (4852), London, Greater London, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 20, 2004 Orangey copper colour. Faint hop aroma, with some estery volatility. Fruity flavour, with pear drops and plenty of bitter hops. Bittersweet finish. A bit unusual for a session bitter, but quite pleasant. Cask (handpump) at Lord Moon of the Mall (JDW), Whitehall, London.
