Copenhagen 23/9 2016. 33 cl bottle from Meny. Chubby beer-drinking King with white beard on the label. On the back of the bottle they advise you to substitute your red wine with this noble brew. Looking at the ABV I am not too suprised by this suggestion. Pours clear Dark amber with off-white head. Head disappears quite fast. Lively carbonation. Looks like a Coca Cola. Aroma of sweet malts, stinky socks and metallic alcohol. Medium carbonation and thick palate. Flavor is sweet and sugary and certainly packs an alcoholic punch. Only very subdued bitterness. I like it betyder thai the light version - but I am NOT ready to trade in my red wine for this.

Dark brown body with a beige head.
Malty and fruity aroma and flavour. Quite sweet and moderately bitter taste. Spicy. Warming alcohol. Finish is very much alcohol.
Medium body with soft mouthfeel and soft carbonation.

Very good bock. Liquid caramel malt with a punch.

Flaske. farven er mørk rødbrun med næsten ingen skumkrone. Aromaen er sødlige kirsebær og sirup, medens smagen er mørk tørret frugt karamel og farin. Vinder ved at lagres i 5 år.

25cl from tap@Fiskafeen in Hancock glass@approx 5 degrees C (too cold) Pours clear dark brown with powerful small beige head with hardly any retention. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel malt and dark fruit. Taste dominated by roasted malt, dark dried fruit and alcohol. Aftertaste mainly also dominated by the roasted malt. Medium body and carbonation. Quite well balanced classic dark beer and the dark fruit is quite interesting - especially on a winters day. Could have done with more liveliness, but it may just have been the rinse aid making the glass detrimental to the beer. Will try again from bottle - it is good enough to deserve that.

TorbenJensen (1457) - Valby, DENMARK - AUG 26, 2015
Flimsy foam, very bubbly and lively beer. Smells nice to fruit and hard roasted malt. The taste is soft, round and full-bodied. It starts with a distinctly good malt sweetness, which increases in a warming alcohol strength to round of a good and very well balanced hop bitterness. The fruit is a bit nondescript but very present. Without doubt a great tribute to the king of beers, Gambrinus, after which the beer is named.
