COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our first Anniversary Ale was brewed with hundreds of pounds of locally grown blood oranges. This monster beer also clocked in at 9% alcohol. The blood oranges added an interesting grapefruit aroma and flavor along with a pleasant bitterness. Brewed once in 2009 and perhaps never again… Additional Information: The idea for this brew came from owner Ben Cook’s original attempts at crafting the Orange Wheat beer as a homebrewer. The first attempt came out with way too much alcohol, but after an extended aging tasted great. The same extra alcohol and extended aging were brewed (on purpose) into the IBOW.

Off a Tap at Hanger 24’s 2nd Anniversary,Orange reddish in color,more bitter than the orange wheat,white head,I like it a lot .

On tap at the Hangar 24 1st Anniversary party. Pours a dark hazy ruby color with a pinkish white fluffy head. Aroma is pure blood oranges and a touch of citrusy hops. Flavor is loads of citrus with a somewhat tame wheat background. Some alcohol is apparent but not as much as expected for a 9% wheat beer. Full bodied, but the healthy dose of carbonation makes it refreshing. Too bad we won’t be seeing more of this.

Had on draft for the Hangar 24 1 year anniversary party. Had a great time! Took a monster sized growler home of this to rate. It pours a golden grapefruit color with a very nice looking white head. The color is unlike any other beer I have seen. Aroma has hints of citrus and sweet orange zest. Very, very nice brew with a little tangy bitter finish. As Hophead22 mentions, very easy to drink for 9% alcohol.

From my growler. Pretty cool color, kind of a dark orange with a few drops of blood mixed in. Real good head retention, nice white head as well. Powerful orange aroma, you can really smell those blood oranges. More big orange in the flavor, but still really smooth and drinkable for 9%, it will put you on your ass if you’re not careful, much like the guy who fell out backwards out of the porta-john at the anniversary party.

On tap @ the Hangar 24 1st Anniversary Party..Rated from a growler fill...Pours a burnt orange with a 1 finger pinkish white head... Smell is like a fresh blood orange..Taste is blood oranges and grapefruit with that citrus peel bitterness...Very very nice beer!!
