COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This year’s Anniversary beer is a special, "doubled" version of the Alt-Bier. We blended in a portion of Pugachev’s Cobra that has been aging in rye barrels for over 16 months to make this a special beer for a special occasion. You’ll experience a caramel and roasty flavor with a spicy oak finish, and a rich malt aroma with hints of fruit esters and alcohol notes.

thanks to Tim for the hookup on this, and in the new 4th Ann glass to boot. You rock! Pours dark brown with a huge light tan head that leaves a nice lacing the length of the glass. Aroma is really nice and have tremendous depth. Big toast and nutty malts, the rye whiskey is apparent but finessed well as it only complements. Flavor is extremely rich, caramel and light roast notes blend with nutty character and big wood in the finish. This is awesome stuff, and one of my favorites from this brewery.

On draft at the Livermore Saloon. It pours a dark brownish red color with a khaki head. The aroma is a good balance of toasted malt with some cherry and dry notes of wood. The flavor has toasty malt with just a hint of roasted malt, cherry, earth and spicy wood in the finish. Very well balanced and warming. It was a delight.

1st rating from tap at Hangar. Dark pour with reddish tint and a chestnut head. Taste is dark toasted rye bread and biscuits with a hint of some barrel roll in there. Almost like a sessionable barrel roll. Nicely done.

My co-favorite at the 2012 Barrel Aged Beer Event. Lovely milk chocolate taste in this medium nut brown colored barrel beer. More "alt-y" than Pugachev and easy to sip.

App: pours reddish brown with beige head that sticks around. aroma of brown sugar, hint of molasses, caramel. Taste is sweet with no bitterness. Palate is thick, sticky and chewy. Seems like it is probably a great beer for what it is but it isn’t what i’m looking for. Too Sweet. Really really sweet.

On tap at the Barrel Party. Pours with a hazed brown hued body with a retentive tan head. Aromas are of brown sugar, oak, sweet malt, melanoidins, pencil shavings. A bit raw. Clean ester wise. Flavors are of currants, earthy, brown sugar, clean, molasses, lightly bready, barrel, melanoidins. Lots of oak. Warming, medium carbonation.

GABF 2013. Deep brown, well carbonated. Caramel and bready malt heavy nose. Full bodied, some fruit and bread. Didn’t get oak, whiskey, or any of the Pugachev’s coming out.
