COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Balanced and Resinous. Midwestern malted barley provides a pedestal for you to experience the flavor and aroma of the citrusy Northwestern hops which are the showcase of Hangar 24’s version of a true classic. An American Pale Ale. Additional Information: What makes Hangar 24 Pale Ale special is its smoothness. Carefully selected hops added at just the right times during the brewing process, including post fermentation, give a deep hop flavor without the coarse bitterness that some associate with pale ale.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Firestone restaurant pint glass From: VONS in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif. Price: $13.97 (with VONS card) for a variety 12-pack Purchased: June 1, 2013 Consumed: June 1, 2013 Misc.: N/A Poured a copper orange, rather clear color with about four fingers of frothy white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom. Lots of thick sporadic foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Great thick and foamy retention all the way down. Initially smelled a mixture of orange , tangerine and lemon. Also butter, wheat, grass, honey and floral notes. Taste wasn’t quite like the nose. Seemed to taste bitter coffee notes. Some citrus notes (orange, faint grapefruit, lemon), pale ale notes (grainy grass, honey, wheat) and buttery malts. Light-to-medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Bitter, abrupt finish. Just didn’t like this beer. Not happy that I have three more in my variety 12-pack.

Piney, catty aromas from a medium yellow body with a thin white head. Nice clean malt taste with balanced light hop bitterness which isn’t as strong as the aromas seemed to suggest. Finishes clean and slight sweet with an orange/citrus aftertaste. Easy drinking but tasty and interesting too.

12 oz bottle, out of the bottle. Aroma is a bit of malt and fresh hop notes. Taste is crisp caramel malt and nicely bitter piney hops. I wouldn’t describe them as "resinous" by any means, but... well hopped for a pale. Tasty and a nice pale.

On tap at brewery. A nice refreshing straight up Pale Ale, nicely balanced and clean finish. I suspect they use Amarillo in this one.

Poured from the tap it has an amber color in the glass. Taste is nutty with some hops. The finish has some mild bitterness but a good balance.

Bottle picked up at an Angels game. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Nose is floral hops, bread, malts. Flavor follows. Thin mouthfeel and bitter finish. Easy to drink but light on flavor.

On cask with crystal hops at Hangar 24. Pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is lots of citrus and a strong nutty malt character. Flavor is smoothly bitter and resinous with pine, citrus, and more nutty malt. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Draft @ brewery. Nose is spicy, hop-forward, but not a lot there. Flavor starts with a nice, piney hop profile, transitioning quickly to slightly toasted biscuity malt. As it warmed, the sweetness of the malts started to overtake the balance somewhat, but altogether a highly quaffable tasty brew.

Bottle to glass. Pours a slightly hazy amber orange color with a thin white head. Aroma has a light citrusy orange pear characteristic. Flavor is mildly bitter that disappears quickly in the finish. Funky aftertaste thats hard to describe. Not exactly pleasant. Light in body. A decent example of a pale, but nothing spectacular.
