COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IMMELMANN: An ascending half loop followed by a half roll resulting in level flight in the opposite direction at a higher altittude. Just as it takes consummate skill to perform the Immelmann maneuver in the air, it takes the choicest ingredients, patience and consummate skill to bring you our IMMELMANN, a Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Porter. This hand crafted beer is brewed with 2-row, Munich, Cara-Munich, Chocolate and Dark Chocolate Malts, Oats and Cocoa Nibs, along with whole Vanilla Beans. Aged in Bourbon Barrels for six months and blended with twenty percent fresh Porter to produce enticing aromas of chocolate, coffee, tobacco, bourbon and sweet malt along with a complex pallet of dark roast chocolate, oak and maple followed by a subtle vanilla finish. This is an intense, yet refined flavor experience to be savored today or aged to be enjoyed at your leisure.

750 ml bottle from Imbibe Wine. Nose is big vanilla, chocolate, oak, candisugar, and light bourbon; like a cross somewhere between BA quads and stouts. Clear very dark brown with a small tan head. Flavor is vanilla, sweetness, chocolate, and a small toffee note.

Bottle shared by someone at RBWG 2011 from notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a smaller tan head. The aroma and flavor had roasted malt, bourbon, vanilla, tobacco, oak, chocolate, caramel, and some espresso. A touch of earthy bitterness cuts the barrel notes at the finish just a bit. Very nice beer.

Bottle #2131/2520. 2013 vintage. Dark mahogany pour. Luscious medium creamy beige head, swirls leaving drapes of lace. Aroma is wonderful. Soft smokey bourbon. Chocolate. Medium coffee. Vanilla compliments. Bourbon barrel leads over sweetness or roastiness. Bourbon Barrel forward but not dominant. Flavor matches. A good medium to medium plus body. Soft and smooth. Great rounded feel. The nicest warming sensation, without a trace of heat. Warming comes hand in hand with the perfect level of medium roastiness. Semi dry, barrel coating. Sweetness is kept in check. Love the spicy smokey bourbon here.

extremely sweet malt, dark sweet fruit, just very strong and sweet. Strong alcohol aroma as well. Taste is not as sweet but still very sweet. A strong bourbon/alcohol taste throughout. A little vanilla but the oak, bittersweet chocolate, malt, and bourbon are the most powerful aspects for me.

Bottle. The pour is a brown copper. The aroma has a smooth bourbon smell to it, very inviting. The taste is smooth. One of the better bourbon porters I have had. Only complaint is a little thin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours clear cola brown with a tan head. Nose is sweet chocolate, bourbon, vanilla. Flavor follows: bourbon, chocolate, marshmallow, vanilla. Medium bodied. Reminded me some of FW Parabola, for whatever reason. Good.

A pretty darn good cocoa heavy porter, a lighter on the bourbon than a lot of BA porters, but also not super complex. Good beer, not amazing. Would be cool to see them rebrew it since they seem to be improving a lot over the years.

750 ml corked and caged bottle courtesy of BMan1113VR (Thanks Andrew!) poured a clear reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of bourbon, oak, vanilla, cocoa and light coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, oak, vanilla, cocoa, tobacco and light spice with a smooth lingering bourbon finish.

750ml bottle pours a watery black with some wispy white head. Nose has loads of vanilla, some distinct grain, a little toasted rye, some boozy, wood, coconut, cake. Flavor is sweet, cola, raisin, chocolate, malt, molasses and lots of vanilla. Clean finish. Very enjoyable.

750ml bottle, c&c. Black pour, with a thin tan head. Lots of vanilla, bourbon, and oak barrel. Chocolate, malty sweetness, light roast. Ok, strong on the vanilla.
