COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
HUMPTY BUMP: A quarter loop to a vertical climb followed by a half loop to a vertical down completed with a quarter loop to level flight. Funny sounding name...real serious beer. HUMPTY BUMP, the second release in our exclusive Barrel Roll Series, begins with a hand-crafted Belgian Strong Golden Ale that we brew with appel cider from the local Riley’s Los Rios Farms and caramelized sugar. Thus powerful brew is then aged for eight months in second-fill oak bourbon barrels with Brettanomyces to create a one-of-a-kind drinking expierience. A complex bouquet of fruit, spice, honey, and vanilla, with a subtle "barnyard" aroma courtesy of the wild yeast. The yeast also imparts a unique funky counterpoint to the slightly sweet, apple flavors. This creamy, full-bodied bottle-conditioned ale will mature for up to five years--if you can wait that long.

Hazy golden pour from bottle shared by my cousin. Spicy funky aroma. Taste is apple mild bourbon and whole grain cheerios as stated in previous rating. Mild funk and nice body. I do agree that this could sit a while to mature.

At the 2012 Barrel Aged Beer Event. I was expecting more from this. Not very tart or very "brett-y" to my taste. Did not taste like 9.5% for sure but was certainly not strong. Mild to me.

Bottle thanks to Tim, pours bright hazy orange with a medium white head. Aroma is part cider and part funky yeast. Flavor is not as funky as the nose leads on but has some Belgian yeast tartness much like the seasonal from this brewery. Nice clean light malt bill with the fruity/yeast tartness finishing nicely. I like it.

Pours hazy golden amber with a white head. The aroma brings soft light apple crispness and some sweet funk. The flavor brings more tart from the Brett, not much sweetness, with some funky apple ending. The sweetness of the Belgian golden ale comes out with the cider for sure.

Bottle shared at bu11zeye’s 10,000th rating tasting. The beer pours a yellow color with a white head. The aroma has a lot of orange and oak notes, with some vanilla and a little bit of tartness thrown in. The flavor is also quite complex. I get a lot of orange, apple and lemon notes, as well as some oak and vanilla. There is also a little bit of tartness and a hint of brett and funk. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
