COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
PUGACHEV’S COBRA: The brainchild of Victor Pugachev -- not for the faint of heart. Pilot suddenly raises the aircraft nose to near vertical before dropping back to attack mode. Get ready for an assault on your senses with PUGACHEV’S COBRA, an intense Russian Imperial Stout. This rich, black beauty with a thick caramel head is bursting with aromas of chocolate, vanilla, oak, bourbon, licorice and dark fruits, while flavors of chocolate-covered plum, sweet malt, bourbon, and roasted coffee explode on your pallet. Three different dark roasted malts and rich maple syrup are combined in a truly unique brewing process to create complexity and depth. Once fermented, it’s then aged for eight months in freshly emptied bourbon barrels. This powerful concoction is designed to be enjoyed now with friends or cellared to perfection and savored in the years to come.

2012 bottle. Pours a viscous black with almost no head; it coats the inside of the tulip with an oily sheen. Very boozy aroma with chocolate, molasses, and some anise. Decadent chocolate (reminiscent of a fudge-coated brownie), is the dominant taste with some black licorice, vanilla, heavy roasted malt, and a ton of hot bourbon. Slick, heavy texture that coats the mouth. Fantastic stout and a beautiful sipper; I only wish I had another bottle to cellar for a few years to let some of the heat die down.

Pours an opaque, very dark brown with a short, caramelized-colored head. Coconutty, powder cocoa, oak, vanilla, and bourbon on the nose. Mouthfeel is a bit thin for the style, but not unpleasant. Flavors of coconut, hazelnut, chocolate, vanilla, and oak. Quite boozy. The alcohol is pretty overwhelming. Still a pretty good brew.

On tap at Crazy Harrys. This beer pours like a melted chocolate. Deep and dark with a thickness like no other. The head was minimal, to be expected with this style and the nose was rich with complexity. Hints of dark chocolate, lots of bourbon and oakyness. Incredible beer. A must have for dark beer lovers.

After having one other barrel roll and not being impressed I was hoping this wouldn’t let me down and, it didn’t. A treat. The pour is dark black with a filthy brown head. The nose is just like I like a bourbon stout to be, booze bomb. Big vanilla, chocolate, licorice, whiskey, coffee, toffee, coconut, cherries, leather. The taste is high sweet and low bitter with a nice sweet finish. The texture is silky smooth, creamy, big body and a long finish. Really good beer.

750 ml c&c bottle served in a Southern Tier tulip. 2012 vintage, bottle #4326/5360. A: Pours a pitch black color with very thin dark mocha head forming on the pour. It recedes to minuscule ring pretty quickly then to nothing. Some stick is left down the glass. S: Definitely boozy upfront. Pretty sweet caramel presence with some definitive barrel notes. Vanilla, oak and bourbon. Glazed prunes with a little roast. T: Boozy bourbon notes with nice rich chocolate undertone. Big barrel with some sweet caramel and oak with a hint of roasted malts. M: Smooth, heavy and silky. Medium low carbonation with a sticky mouthfeel. O: A very big beer, but not over the top in heat and sweetness. Very solid all around with a great mouthfeel for a beer this big.
