4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Vintage 2015. Appearance is black mud with thick mocha head. Aroma is molases, oak, vanilla, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is milk chocolate, fudge, vanilla, coffee, and ash. Really good, sounds like the Abv has varied quite a bit by vintage. Thankfully 2015 is 12.5% (I think), which isnít a week beer by anyone standards but still within the realm of drinkable.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
So after friends drank my 2013 bottle and filled it with water creating a good joke, I was pissed, to say the least. I arranged a new bottle and they paid the bottle and shipment back (around Ä35 a person, which they were quite shocked about afterwards... Who laughs last...)
So itís time to open the 2014 (#9453/11220) bottle which is also higher in ABV, yay...
The kvlt Chouffe glass is as always present:
Black beer. Brown head.
The nose has some incredible rich tones of chocolate, vanilla, molasses, fudge, sweet roast, mocha, light wood roast, light raisin, liquor and an earthy sprinkle... Great balanced dominating roast, whiskey and chocolate tones. Incredible!
The flavour is very subtle for almost 19%ABV! Light and soft alcohol burn with some roast, bourbon, mocha, fudge, cookies, chocolate, light vanilla, wood roast, some cacoa, some bitters, light earthy and a caramel sprinkle. Very nice!
Aftertaste is roasty, light spice, bourbon, some chocolate, bitters, wood roast, some mocha...
Low carbo, light creamy light spiced mouthfeel, close to full body.
Very very nice beer! Wonderful aroma and great flavours. Tasty!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured black color with a moderate fizzy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Heavy toasted chocolate, coffee with a solid bourbon alcohol and wood aroma. Full body with a dry smooth texture and flat carbonation. Heavy dark bourbon sweet flavor with a heavy dark sweet finish of long duration. This is a standout beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml bottle (2011) shared with the group via an older trade with Hophead22 I believe. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have big roasted malts, dark chocolate, bourbon, wood, vanilla, caramel, molasses, some dark fruit, anise, the alcohol comes through but I wouldnít peg this as 16.5%, bigger body, sticky, awesome brew, I canít imagine this could have been this good fresh.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750ml bottle, 2011 vintage, labeled 16.5%. Thanks to alexsdad06 for sharing. Very nice dark fruit, dark chocolate, good roast in the nose. Mostly clear very dark brown red color. Ring of off-white head. Leaves loose bits of lace. Awesome big oak character, nice coffee aromas in the flavor. Very awesome rich flavor. Some alcohol heat, but the 16.5 works awesomely here, totally in check, much smoother than expected, awesome. I donít pick up on really any (or at least any bothersome) oxidization at all. Bigger body. Decent chewiness. I love vanilla, decadent dark chocolate cake-like aroma. Nice touch of brown sugar. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, nice pleasant alcohol warmth all throughout (but zero burn nor bite with smaller sips). Lighter to moderate sweet, pleasant mild dry finish. This has aged awesomely, and is probably one of the more fun 5-yr old stouts Iíve ever tried. Super long, roasty dark chocolatey and vanilla aftertaste. Very impressive, really a treat.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
From a 75 cl bottle shared at home. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of licorice and bourbon. Flavors of dark stone fruits, oak and vanilla. Sweet, boozy finish.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Deep, dark roasted malt. Itís all burnt sugars and vanilla and fudgey chocolatey goodness. The beer is black from wall to wall. Very small head. It was hard to kick up any substantial blanket of bubbles even with a vigorous pour. Only a thin layer of bubbles remains after a minute or so. Lots of vanilla in the aroma. Sweet bourbon barrel blends into the chocolate and caramel sweetness nicely. Taste is sweet and full of big stout. Some mild but definite maple complexity. Lots of dark, sweet sugars. Excellent interaction between the stout and the barrel flavors. Smooth, full mouthfeel. Very well made.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Large shared bottle.
This stout reflects high quality and relatively strong bourbon barrel aging. This helps make it rather boozy but it befits the aroma and flavor. The dark body has nice red-brown highlights when held to the light. Fine and long lasting aftertaste of dark roasted grains, vanilla and bourbon barrels.
Smooth but a bit too hot.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is an extremely aggressive high alcohol beer. An excellent choice for beer number 5000, itís very roasted with some chocolate thick and strong . Iím feeling pretty good now:-)

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasting at Mattís; 18.9%, bottle 1353/11220, vintage 2014
Black color, small head. Boozy aroma, thick mouthfeel, a lot of tar, some chocolate, too strong burning alcohol, some vanilla, and some liquorice in the final.
Good but I canít picture myself drinking too much of this, so why is this bottled in 750ml?
