PUGACHEV’S COBRA: The brainchild of Victor Pugachev -- not for the faint of heart. Pilot suddenly raises the aircraft nose to near vertical before dropping back to attack mode.

Get ready for an assault on your senses with PUGACHEV’S COBRA, an intense Russian Imperial Stout. This rich, black beauty with a thick caramel head is bursting with aromas of chocolate, vanilla, oak, bourbon, licorice and dark fruits, while flavors of chocolate-covered plum, sweet malt, bourbon, and roasted coffee explode on your pallet. Three different dark roasted malts and rich maple syrup are combined in a truly unique brewing process to create complexity and depth. Once fermented, it’s then aged for eight months in freshly emptied bourbon barrels. This powerful concoction is designed to be enjoyed now with friends or cellared to perfection and savored in the years to come.

750 mL bottle shared with ebone1988. Vintage 2013, bottle 2091/8856. The pour is a viscous muddy dark brown/medium black with a finger of lighter tan head and no lace. Head falls to a ring quickly. The aroma is big on the booze. There is a lot of roasted malt with a great maple presence. There is a light oakiness and some great vanilla to come with the maple. Light dark fruits on the back end really bring it together. The flavor is really good. The dark fruits and roasted malts take over the front end but then it rolls (do you get it?) through a great barrel (are you sure?) character and ends with strong maple. The vanilla and oak are well balanced, but late on the palate, the maple is just the star. The moth feel is a little light and underwhelmingly carbonated. The aftertaste is beautifully all maple and light vanilla. This is a damn good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared with koleminer20. Vintage 2013. Aroma is licorice, sweet malt, maple, barrel, chocolate, vanilla. Appearance is black, brown head, poured thin. Taste is great, lots of dark fruit, licorice, candy sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, and an abundance of maple at the end. Mouthfeel is excellent, thick as fuck and perfect carbonation for a brew of this caliber. Overall, very impressive.

Vintage 2014. Bouteille 1449/11220 bue chez mon ami Frank. Hell yeah!

Big thanks to Klimaet for sharing this. Porus black with a beige coca cola head. Aroma of big bourbon notes. MOFORIOUS! Dark sweet fruits, sweet liquorice, vanilla, molasses, figs, dates and prunes. This smells so inviting! The taste is sweet, dry and roasted with notes of liquorice, sweet bourbon, sweet tobacco, wood, vanilla, molasses and some booze at the end. Very nice and intense!

Bottle split at #arch thanks to Leighton, 19/06/15. Extremely dark mahogany brown topped with moderately appointed tan spotting. Nose is charr, dark fruit rinds, cocoa nibs, subtle bourbon. Taste comprises dark fruits, liquorice, peppery spice, dark chocolate, molasses. Full bodied, fine carbonation, light warming booze and subtle bourbon edge at the curtain call. Decent enough impy if a little harsh at times, needs a little more finesse for me.

2014 bottle from trade. Pours black with small brownish khaki head. Aroma is big vanilla and bourbon galore, a bit of roast. Flavor follows with lots of nutty coffee, vanilla oak, bourbon, and ridiculous amounts of booze notes. Seriously, why make it this high ABV? No reason for that. Aggressive booze thins things out a bit and gets in the way of what seems to be a nicely aged stout. Overall really nice, but just waaaaay too hot.

The taste is rich, oily, dark chocolate, booze, wood, dark fruits, earth, wood, charred stuff, toasty vanilla, tar, alcohol warmth and some dark/dried fruits with a lingering earthy boost. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Pretty good stuff. Rich.
