COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
PUGACHEVíS COBRA: The brainchild of Victor Pugachev -- not for the faint of heart. Pilot suddenly raises the aircraft nose to near vertical before dropping back to attack mode.

Get ready for an assault on your senses with PUGACHEVíS COBRA, an intense Russian Imperial Stout. This rich, black beauty with a thick caramel head is bursting with aromas of chocolate, vanilla, oak, bourbon, licorice and dark fruits, while flavors of chocolate-covered plum, sweet malt, bourbon, and roasted coffee explode on your pallet. Three different dark roasted malts and rich maple syrup are combined in a truly unique brewing process to create complexity and depth. Once fermented, itís then aged for eight months in freshly emptied bourbon barrels. This powerful concoction is designed to be enjoyed now with friends or cellared to perfection and savored in the years to come.

750 ml. 2013 bottle. Pours black with a nice tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, and alcohol. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, dark fruit, and barrel. Very rich and creamy. Maybe a bit too much bourbon. Still, an excellent Imperial Stout.

Bottle shared during the 4,000 tasting. Poured a good looking silky black body that is viscous with a small to average light foamy deep beige head. Aroma is nice, chocolate, bourbon, chocolate pudding, cake, vanilla and lots of roastiness. Great body, full mouthfeel, average carbonation, silky overall and long lingering aftertaste. Flavor is solid but not as good as the aroma, notes of old dry chocolate, vanilla extract, barrel, alcohol, spiced rum, dark toast, Tootsie Rolls. Really good stuff.

Bottle thanks to Henry. Cheers man! Pours a thick black with a thin beige head that recedes to an outer ring. Aromas of bourbon, slight ash, maple, toasted oak, chocolate. Taste is bourbon, chocolate, ash again, barrel. Don't pick up much on the maple but still a damn tasty beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml (2013) bottle shared by Dan P. Poured a dark brown/almost black color with a small foamy mocha colored head. Aroma is really boozy with notes of bourbon, oak, roasted malt, and dark chocolate. Taste mimics the nose with some earthiness, and some burnt sugar/caramel in the aftertaste.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2015 Fairly thin and unimposing in appearance. Ebony, sure, but watery. The bubbles are fizzy as a soda, popping away in no time at all. Sharp, woody whiskey aroma -- mid-shelf stuff. Sweet vanilla, brown sugar, butterscotch, marshmallow. Tangy, bittersweet dark chocolate. The whiskey flavor is again large and packed with wood -- this is like sucking on a oak chip. The sharp stuff is slightly smoothed out mid-palate by tones of vanilla and buttery toffee. Alcohol flavor is likewise impressive. This is almost more whiskey than beer. Lingering tanginess on the sides of the tongue. A body like simple syrup, heavy with sugar. Smooth and soft, a fleece blanket of beer, with a similar layer of heat. Carbonation is a bit high for the style, pinching, excited. Alcohol isnít very well-hidden, but it is 16.4 percent ABV. Aged in barrels with a slight char, Iíd wager. Bourbon is potent; this could stand a few months in the cellar at least. Rough. Best shared with friends. UPDATE: The 2014 vintage on draft. Aroma is toasted coconut, milk chocolate, maple, wet oak. The flavor comes in waves: chocolate syrup followed by graham cracker followed by cola and oak and grape. Extremely smooth, with an apparent alcohol level far below its actual amount at 18 percent. This vintage is superb, and Iíve bumped the scores up accordingly.
