4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Acquired in a trade. 750ML C&C enjoyed at 59 Degrees F in a snifter.
A - Pours a near midnight black. In the glass, pitch black, not viscous on the pour. 1 finger coffee colored head that fades almost instantly. Very interesting characteristics compared to other big stouts.
S - I can smell the bourbon as soon as the cork pops. In the glass, dark chocolate, heavy cocoa, freshly ground espresso beans dipped in chocolate. Lots of vanilla and heavy charred smokiness. Bourbon stays around for a while.
T - Wow. Up front, huge roasted dark malts. Smoked and chocolate malts. Some raisins and figs come through in the middle with a semi-sweet vanilla taste. The finish spicy licorice, coffee and cane sugar. Booziness sticks around.
M - The mouth feel is insane. The beer coats ever aspect of my mouth like a sip of bourbon. It tingles the front and middle of my tongue. Sticks around and remains chocolatey with booze. Heavy body, light carbonation.
O - This is an incredible beer. Itís not as great as BCBS or Damon or Speedway stout but, on its own, it stands strong and tastes fantastic.

24th November 2013
Opaque dark brown - black beer with an untidy tan head. Palate is smooth with fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts with light touches of vanilla and dark chocolate. The bourbon isnít too strong but there is a little spice. Finishes semi dry with mild warmth. Overall does a reasonable job of keeping itís big abv on a leash and thus is quite drinkable.

Had this at the RB Pgh Halloween Spook-tacular Tasting/Drunkfest fall 2013, nice time at Hornydevilís place, thanks James & Michelle! Big thanks to beerman6686, he is the guy to trade with. Smell is alarmingly volatile. Donít dare lite a match, you know what I mean? Not as thik as I was expecting it to be. Aroma is old but that could be the beer before. Taste is kick the ass. nok your head back. just the most alky flavors. Way over the top and down the sides, wew. probably should be sold ina PALCB state store, heheh. Iím getting dizzy, wew. woot, heheheh. Look, I appreciate Dan bringing this but it ceratinly is not beer, its a whisky or strong winey thing.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This one poured a big dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma was heavy Bourbon, fudge, dark roast and mild soy sauce. Flavor was similar, big alciholc burn, but tasty Bourbon and fudge and not sugary at all really. Bruery.... take note.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Batch 1 bottle from í11. Oily black pour with a quickly fading scatter of dark tan foam. Aroma is heavy bourbon with coconut, vanilla, and marshmallow followed by some light chocolate roast and alcohol spice. Taste is dominated by the bourbon with vanilla followed by deep chocolate and heavy, sweet malt, maple, darker plum, and some alcohol vapors. A two year wait tamed the base beer somewhat but itís still plenty aggressive under the bourbon. LIghtly coating mouthfeel. Intense but quite manageable despite the ridiculous 16.5% ABV. Good bourbon treatment.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle
Thanks to wnoble for sharing this monster of a beer. At 16.5% ABV it would have been a perfect nightcap. I have no idea how one would finish this off alone unless you really were able to pace yourself over a few hours. I have certainly had bigger imperial stouts though usually there were more people around to split the bottle.
Aroma / Appearance - An oily black base is slick and slimy like somebody poured a shot of black grease into the glass. It looks as heavy as it smells. Smoke, anise, malt, and heavy dark fruits do not disappate at all even after a few minutes. This is one of those beers you can smell from a few feet away.
Flavor / Palate - Smoke, chocolate, anise, and malt drive a heavy profile that is high powered. The ABV is evident within seconds. This is an excellent imperial stout though for my tastes a little on the heavy side. In fact it almost borders on a bourbon bomb. Take it down a few notches and I would prefer it more.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml bottle procured by joetheyounger from the brewery at release almost two years ago ($25.00). Pours black with some reddish-brown highlights and almost a finger of brown foam. Quite fizzy for such a big ABV beer, but the head soon reduces to absolute nothingness. AROMA of dark chocolate, sticky caramel, maple syrup, vanilla, sweet bourbon, and nutty dark malts. FLAVOR of thick toffee, Hersheyís chocolate milk powder, bourbon-drizzled fudge brownie, smooth maple, and bourbon with a bit of booze. Smooth finish with a light sweetness. Thereís some booziness, but overall the really big ABV is mostly well concealed. A very fine BA-RIS that has apparently done well with some aging. (80, 813)
