4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Acquired in a trade. 750ML C&C enjoyed at 59 Degrees F in a snifter.
A - Pours a near midnight black. In the glass, pitch black, not viscous on the pour. 1 finger coffee colored head that fades almost instantly. Very interesting characteristics compared to other big stouts.
S - I can smell the bourbon as soon as the cork pops. In the glass, dark chocolate, heavy cocoa, freshly ground espresso beans dipped in chocolate. Lots of vanilla and heavy charred smokiness. Bourbon stays around for a while.
T - Wow. Up front, huge roasted dark malts. Smoked and chocolate malts. Some raisins and figs come through in the middle with a semi-sweet vanilla taste. The finish spicy licorice, coffee and cane sugar. Booziness sticks around.
M - The mouth feel is insane. The beer coats ever aspect of my mouth like a sip of bourbon. It tingles the front and middle of my tongue. Sticks around and remains chocolatey with booze. Heavy body, light carbonation.
O - This is an incredible beer. It’s not as great as BCBS or Damon or Speedway stout but, on its own, it stands strong and tastes fantastic.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pitch black and opaque with a two finger dark beige head that has good retention, slowly fading onto a thick, lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
Spicy bourbon barrel aroma but it’s nicely integrated into notes of the base beer. Strong bourbon and burnt oak presence along with some vanilla and toasted coconut. Still plenty of roast underneath the strong barrel character with hints of dark chocolate, toast, burnt sugar and coffee bean along with booze and sweeter malt notes.
On the fuller end of medium body and slightly viscous with a blast of spicy, boozy heat. Tons of bourbon flavor pounding you over the head along with dry toasted oak and subtle vanilla bean. Lots of bourbon heat, almost too much so, dominating and overpowering the other flavors. Tastes too young for my liking. After the palate adjusts, there’s a nice sweet malt presence along with some subtle roast with hints of dark chocolate, caramel and coffee bean. Some decent flavors underneath the barrel but it’s overwhelmingly boozy and a bit one dimensional.

2014 Big black and strong. The very high ABV was noticable but not so dry and fumey as expected. Nice roasted and coffee notes. Smooth and vary big.

(18.9%) Massive chaleur émanant d’une mélasse sucrée. Des cendres se déposent sur la langue tellement c’est volcanique. Le corps est moyen, sirupeux et très chocolatée à la base. Très bon.

Thanks kathouse. I’m in your debt. Wonderful. Pours an inky black. No head. Aromas are very nutty, a bit of booze, dark chocolate, vanilla. Not getting a lot of maple in this. More nutty flavours, a bit of booze, dark chocolate, brownies. So smooth for the high abv.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 mL bottle shared with ebone1988. Vintage 2013, bottle 2091/8856. The pour is a viscous muddy dark brown/medium black with a finger of lighter tan head and no lace. Head falls to a ring quickly. The aroma is big on the booze. There is a lot of roasted malt with a great maple presence. There is a light oakiness and some great vanilla to come with the maple. Light dark fruits on the back end really bring it together. The flavor is really good. The dark fruits and roasted malts take over the front end but then it rolls (do you get it?) through a great barrel (are you sure?) character and ends with strong maple. The vanilla and oak are well balanced, but late on the palate, the maple is just the star. The moth feel is a little light and underwhelmingly carbonated. The aftertaste is beautifully all maple and light vanilla. This is a damn good beer.

Bottle shared with koleminer20. Vintage 2013. Aroma is licorice, sweet malt, maple, barrel, chocolate, vanilla. Appearance is black, brown head, poured thin. Taste is great, lots of dark fruit, licorice, candy sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, and an abundance of maple at the end. Mouthfeel is excellent, thick as fuck and perfect carbonation for a brew of this caliber. Overall, very impressive.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Vintage 2014. Bouteille 1449/11220 bue chez mon ami Frank. Hell yeah!
