4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from bottle on 04/26/13. Deep brown with medium tan head. Tons of boozyness, vanilla, toffee flavors come through. This was a solid BA barley wine that I think will get better with age.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours golden orange with a one finger white head. The nose is bananas, caramel, brown sugar with hints of cinnamon. The taste is medium high sweet and medium low bitter. It's kind of one dimensional though. I definitely don't detect any of the barrel. The texture is soft and creamy, body is heavy and finish is long.

750 bottle. Pours a murky brown color. Big brown sugar and toffee flavors up front. Some whisky in taste and aroma. But not overpowering or dominant. Sweet. Sticky.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
750mL bottle, pours a cloudy deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out deep dark dried fruits, caramel, moderate presence of whiskey and bourbon barrels and alcohol. Flavour brings out loads of whiskey barrels upfront, ridiculous booziness, sweet caramel and more booze. The barrels are dominating – front and centre – with no restraint on the alcohol. Way too boozy and not very complex at all to be enjoyable for me. It was a big chore to drink more than a few ounces.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at the Blarney Wine tasting on 03/16/2013: Cloudy reddish-brown color with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. The aroma consists of ripe fruit, malt and oak. Full-bodied with flavors of bourbon, caramel malt, hops and fruit. The finish is rich and malty with a lingering boozy aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz. bottle served in a CCB snifter. Bottle # 2560/5520.
A: Pours a hazy amber color with a light white head forming on the pour. It recedes quickly to a thin ring.
S: Whiskey barrel, oak and dark fruit flavors. Light hopping with a tad of oxidation? A little paper.
T: Same as the nose with a touch more oxidized flavors. It’s much more hot than the nose suggests as well. Sweet whiskey barrel, some light hopping, but mostly oxidation with whiskey.
M: Medium bodied with a medium low carbonation level.
O: I’ve heard there’s some bottle variation with Hangar 24 so I’m hoping that’s the case here. I’d like to revisit in the near future.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle @ a recent bottle share... Poured amberish/brown with a thin, off-white head. Whiskey and wood with caramel. Sweet and dessert-like. An enjoyable barleywine for sure. Dark, toasted sugars and grains, bittersweet molasses, and a hint of earthy hops for depth and balance.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On draft at the Livermore Saloon. It pours a dark orange/brown color with an orange head. The aroma is bourbon, vanilla, hints of dates and figs, light notes of cocoa and wood. The flavor is the same. Rich and decadent, yet pretty well balanced, particularly the barrel component. Smooth and relatively mild alcohol burn. Super tasty and well done.
