Chandelle Just as a pilot perfectly balances the climb and turn of his aircraft when performing the Chandelle, this oak-aged sour ale represents the perfect balance of fruit and funk. To create Chandelle, we filled oak barrels with Polycot (our Local Fields Series wheat beer brewed with locally grown apricots) and then added fresh apricots, brettanomyces yeasts and souring bacteria. Additional apricots were added to the barrels during the twelve month aging process. The result is a bright golden liquid with a fulsome apricot aroma. This beer delivers a zesty tang to the palate, balancing the fresh flavors of the fruit with a pleasantly sour taste created by the wild yeast and bacteria. Chandelle will age nicely for up to a year. Additional Information: Chandelle: Consists of a maximum climb, maximum bank combination to obtain the greatest altitude gain for a given airspeed and at the same time making a 180° course reversal.

Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours a cloudy yellow with no head. The aroma is strong apricot, oak, light funk. Thin mouthfeel with nice sourness, apricot, light oak, very nice.

Bottle: Thanks to either Ron or Jeff... I forgot! Bottle 97 of 1174. The color of ripe apricots (so cliché); golden, yellow-orange, super opaque & dense in color with a loud, fizzy, stark white head that disappears almost instantly. Tons of milky, lactic sourness & barnyard hay funk in the aroma. Tart apricot juice, soaked oak, a touch of earthy nuttiness, sweet-tarts, yogurt, a hint of lemon acidity. Tastes like over-ripened apricot juice. Bruised apricot mixture of sweet & lightly tart, underlying grass & earthiness, hints of rotten fruit skin towards the finish. Hints of lemon, lactic acid, & some drying wet oak that coats the palate in the aftertaste. Almost more of a juice than a beer, but damn tasty... Since, you know, juice is good & all.

Bottle sampled at WtWBA Brooklyn 2013. Pours a light golden body with thin white lacing. Aroma is sweet fruit, light lemon and tart zest. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of wheat, lemon, fruit, some artificial flavoring, faint musk and oak. Okay sour.

Had this at Where The Wild Beers Are. Pours a clear golden glowing yellow with a thin white head. Faint medicinal notes, sweet fruit on the nose. Medium bodied, lemon, wheat, crisp acid. Gentle funk, light wood. Chewy wheat, soft muskiness. Funk into the finish.

Bottle #972 of 1174. To start off I have to say I think the base beer for this (their Polycot) is a mediocre at best apricot wheat....this is something else entirely. Huge apricot and white wine nose with some lemon juice. Slightly cloudy deep (apricot) orange. Good carbonation. Apricot, vinious white wine, bread, distinct peach, and a nice tart zippy finish. Delicious...liked it more than Cascade’s...this is fuller bodied and both fruitier and more tart. Wanted to be drinking this with a nice cream-based pasta dish.
