COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our summer seasonal is based on the recipe for our very popular 3rd Anniversary Ale. Aromas of clove, pineapple and bubblegum spill from the glass. The flavor is a combination of spicy Belgian yeast with hints of pear & nutmeg. It finishes with a pleasant tartness. 3rd Anniversary Ale is very light & refreshing and at the same time complex & intriguing. Additional Information: In order to get the characteristic tartness in this beer, we employed a technique called Sour Mashing. This procedure allows natural bacteria to produce a small level of lactic acid prior to fermentation. The result is a complex, slightly sour treat.

Bottle. Golden beer with a cream head. Yeast and light hay aroma with light spice. Malt and light estery flavor with yeast. Medium bodied. Yeast and light spice linger with light esters and light malt.

On tap at the Livermore Saloon. It pours clear golden with an off white head. The aroma is big summer fruit…melon, strawberries and bread. The flavor is bready with light yeast, pear and melon. Pretty sessionable, subtle and tasty.

Tap at Slater’s 50/50 Rancho Cucamonga. Clear golden pour. Weak foam to none. Sweet vanilla and estery nose- gives more cidery as it warms. Taste is sweet and sugary with yellow apple and baked pear, cidery with sugar. Mealy apple palate. Not a fan.

Out of Ice Cold 12oz bottles purchased at H24 brewery in Redlands. Beer was overly cold after spending an hour in a sloshy ice chest. Thin cloudy yellow pour with a white weak and short lived head. Fragrance is of orange peel, grapefruit, cloves, and a little ginger. Well carbonated. A very clean and lite initial taste mainly of citrus with very very little hop bitterness. A slight bitterness due to is ample carbonation and hints of grapefruit linger thru the finish. Enough malt flavor in the backbone to balance it out. Very drinkable and very refreshing. It is very approachable without being too sweet and is a very appropriate palate cleansing counterpart to almost any meal. This beer is subtle, not earth shattering, but not for lack of complexity. It successfully balances a creamy/sour mouthfeel indicative of Belgian Yeasts, and provides a very restrained sour taste which evolves to manifest the flavors of creamy vanilla on the finish. The vanilla nicely complements the thin, but detectable malt backbone. The finish feels lite and, if anything, does not linger long enuf on the palate leaving one wanting yet another sip. Initially this is a good session beer which acquires the attributes of the perfect session beer only after repeated drinking sessions. Highly recommended, if you are willing to discard conventional american pilsner preconceptions of a session beer. I wish this were not a seasonal but were available year round. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very nice summer beer with a lot of rich fruity flavor and a creamy mouthfeel. I liked this beer better then the orange wheat and will most definitely drink again this summer around the pool.

pours a pale yellow with a thin white head with decent lacing. Aroma is of wheat bread, sour fruits (lemon and pear) cloves, and light bubble gum. Taste is similar to the aroma with some bananas, light belgian yeast, and fizzy soda water. Has a medium-light body with a semi watery mouthfeel and a dry, fizzy, sour, refreshing, medium-short finish. Overall, a decent Belgian ale that has the lightness to be a pretty good summer session ale,

Bottle from Trader Joe’s. Hazy light gold pour. Aroma of bubblegum. Flavor is bubblegum, sour lemon water, nutmeg and spicy yeast.

Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Poured a neon glowing yellow liquid that had a slight haze of sediment while a thick frothy pillow of foam calmly evens across the top. Aroma is mild but does deliver a spicy profile of Belgian yeast that reminds me of witbier style because of the fragrance of orange peel and perhaps crushed coriander seeds, although, a minor hint of banana bubblegum lurks in the distant background. The flavor of this beer changes direction fast with a strong acidic sourness that bring on an extremely dry palate. There are minimal Belgian yeast flavors happening but the grainy wheat like malts bring this Frankenstein summer recipe closer to the recipe of a Berliner Weisse.

Dunno how I haven’t rated this, and I also dunno how I still have a bottle in my fridge from the 2012 release. We shall see how it held up, and see if the "unique souring process" (per the label) has progressed. 12oz bottle. Nope, it didn’t, really, but it sounds like the bugs were killed as I see there was a sour mash done (not on the label, just read above on this site). Clear effervescent straw with a small 1/2 finger fizzy bright white head, fading to a thin film of fizz. Small lacto sourness up front in the nose with some Belgian fruity esters (pear, apple) and light spicy clove and vanilla behind. Flavor has the lactic acid again, which is pretty light, but so is this beer. There is also some old grain character that tells me I shouldn’t have sit on this beer. Truth be told, it was in the fridge the entire time in my possession, since whenever the hell it came out last summer. More tangy apple than pear in the flavor, getting less phenolics as well. Flavor kinda fell flat for me. Light to medium body with fizzy moderate carbonation. I’ll redo my rating with a fresh bottle this year, but FYI, don’t age.
