Rich and decadent. This strong porter is perfect for sipping at the end of the day or to accompany full-flavored foods. The intense, roasty flavor comes from two types of chocolate malt and raw cocoa nibs. Whole vanilla beans introduced post fermentation add complexity and enhance the dessert-like qualities of this full bodied beer. Indulge yourself! Additional Information: This beer began life as our Panamanian Porter with the flavors of chocolate, vanilla and banana. A truly unique beer, we felt that all those flavors needed some smoothing out so we changed yeast strains and eliminated the banana flavor (Which came from the yeast strain). The Panamanian Porter did have many fans however, and there may be plans in the future to bring it back for a special occasion. Stay tunedÖ

March 1st, 2013 - Small propeller planes, tropical leaves and cocoa bean exports set the story for Hangar 24ís Chocolate Porter, another brew with awesome label art. Inside the packaging is a slightly more uniform brew, dark with heavy contrast, dark and brooding most porters tend to be, with a heavy head that looks like the foam on a shaken bottle of soy sauce. Dry and dusty, the aroma reminds me of a dark, bitter and slightly oxidized chocolate bar laced with nibs. THereís an element of chocolate syrup too, more direct and sweet, but also rich and luxuriant. And finally, there is a drop or two of coffee, but it is strictly dominated by the rich and silky chocolate perfume. The palate is rich, unctuous and just a little too heavy, until the mid-taste when the carbonation spikes and grants some much needed levity and airiness. The chocolate notes are darker and bitter, up there with 72% cocoa solid bars, with a slight hops bitterness and a light edge of alcohol. The flavors present are bold, but not especially deep, which is a shame. These are dark, deep bass notes of chocolate that deserve to be rooted into the tongue, but even with that, itís a solid beer.

Very blan not too much to write about...some cocoa in aroma. Flavor is very lean nothing much in flavor. Somewhat flat too. Didt care for.

Thanks Heidi for the bottle. Being an imperial porter, I poured this into a snifter. The appearance was a black color with a fingerís worth of a slim white to off white slightly foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. Light speckled lacing roamed around the glass. The smell had some sweet to roasty cocoa to allow a nice rich yet bitter roasted coffee to try to make a stance but ends up fading just a bit. The taste was mainly a good balance of sweet to roasty with the cocoa and coffee combining nicely. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a sessionability rearing its head slightly but Iím finding more of a sipping aspect from it at times. Carbonation seemed good for the style and for me. Overall, nice imperial porter I could down again.

"Had much bigger hopes for this, especially as a near imperial strength brew, as H24 has been spot on so far. Easily the least favorite beer Iíve had from them so far. Thin for 8% and overly sweet, smells and tastes like a tootsie roll. Not entirely a bad thing, just a bit too artificial and sweet.

22 ounce bottle purchased at Bel Air in Woodland. The aroma is more faint than I would expect. A little tinny and metallic with faint sweetness. Light roast. Transparent dark cola/mahogany color with a medium, fizzy light tan head present. Starts with a bit of a chewy, semi-sweet maltiness. Pretty full-bodied. Becomes a little toasted with slight astringency in the middle. Dark bitter chocolate flavors late. Pretty one-dimensional, and somewhat pedestrian.

Las Vegas, NV - Total Wine - Summerlin - 22 oz bomber. Dark brown pour, off-white medium thick head, light lacing. Chocolate and brown sugar in the aroma. Flavor has some chocolate notes, a touch of licorice, a wee bit of creosote. Thick enough mouthfeel. Not really feeling it on this one.

Flaske: Sortbrun Ýl med et lille skumhoved. Syrlig duft. Smagen er chocolade men igen le syrlig. ōllen er ikke inficeret men den syrlige bismag og duft er off i forhold til mine smagslÝg.

Decent dark brown pour w/ a thin tan head that leaves lacing. The aroma is somewhat underwhelming w/ just a hint of roasted notes & a touch of chocolate. The flavor starts out robust w/ chocolate & coffee notes but finishes kind of a abruptly & dry. Overall itís decent!

Bomber! Pours a translucent walnut color. Good lacing, moderate head/carbonation. Moderate aroma, some chocolate and roasty notes. The taste is good - you can pick out the cocoa nibs and a little vanilla a tiny bit of banana at the end. My one critique is that the palate isnít rich enough to back up all the complex flavors. Iím surprised itís 8%, actually. Very good beer, Iím impressed!
