COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rich and decadent. This strong porter is perfect for sipping at the end of the day or to accompany full-flavored foods. The intense, roasty flavor comes from two types of chocolate malt and raw cocoa nibs. Whole vanilla beans introduced post fermentation add complexity and enhance the dessert-like qualities of this full bodied beer. Indulge yourself! Additional Information: This beer began life as our Panamanian Porter with the flavors of chocolate, vanilla and banana. A truly unique beer, we felt that all those flavors needed some smoothing out so we changed yeast strains and eliminated the banana flavor (Which came from the yeast strain). The Panamanian Porter did have many fans however, and there may be plans in the future to bring it back for a special occasion. Stay tuned…

From a growler, thanks to JoetheYounger. Pours ebony with a tall khaki head. Rich nose of caramel and cocoa. As it warms a soft licorice and vanilla note bring out complexity. Some definite diacetyl, but not off putting with the chocolate flavors. Finish has some perceived dryness from the cocoa powder notes. Body is heavy and smooth, nice creamy texture enhances the chocolate notes. Maybe a touch on the bitter side and could use a bit of black malt for some grit, but a really tasty porter none the less.

Bottle. Dark brown, very clear with small head and pretty nice lacing. Aromas of chocolate, rosted malts and coffee, could have been stronger... Medium body with pleasant oily mouth feel. In taste rosted malts and coffee with bitterness in finish. Some sweet, vanila in the background. Very drinkable for it’s 8%.

Bottle @ home. Opaque dark brown color with a dark red glare coming through when held into the light, medium to full sized beige to light brown head. Aroma is malts, cocoa, chocolate and a hint of dark grapes and raisins. Taste malts, chocolate, cocoa, a slight hint of vanilla and raisins, a slight hint of grapepeel and a decent bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. A bit thinner texture - wise as to what I had expected. Nice though.

650ml bottle. Dark brown colour with ruby red glimmer and average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting and lacing, beige head. Chocolately, dark malty aroma, hints of milk chocolate, some dark chocolate, cocoa, an earthy spicy touch of blueberry and liquorice. Taste is slightly sweet dark malty, chocolately, dry hints of cocoa, a touch of blueberry and liquorice; rich, full bodied, integrated, slightly sticky palate.

Bottle pours deep brown/black with a thick beige head. Aroma shows heavy roast with notes of cocoa, coffee, molasses, alcohol, and earthy hops. Flavor is fairly sweet with notes of cocoa, burnt peanut brittle, anise, overripe dark fruit, and a touch of vanilla. Overall body is moderate, sweet and the finish is somewhat astringent with a definite alcohol presence.
