Assertive and drinkable. Double IPA is California’s gift to beer lovers. Ours is brewed with four distinctly American hops: Centennial, Citra, Columbus and Simcoe, all beautifully balanced by five malts and generous additions of local orange blossom honey. An intense sensory experience — the fresh aroma of citrus, pine and grapefruit with the bold taste of hops and sweet honey. Additional Information: This beer was first brewed to celebrate American Craft Beer Week in 2010. The Double IPA style is distinctly American, and so are the flavors of the specific hops used. This beer was an instant hit (Southern Californians do love their hops!) and we plan on brewing it throughout the year whenever our production schedule allows it.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a clear copper color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy citrus, earthy and alcohol aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very drinkable beer and my expectations where exceeded.

Bottle at home - thanks to Jørgen - at Beer, Food & Sahe Bukkake Night. Clear yellow/golden - white head. Nice hoppy. Grape fruity. Sweet notes. High bitterness. A bit old hops. OK.

Light straw color with bright white head. Nice tropical aroma from the hops. Up front this beer is bitter but not too much. Lighter malts let the hops shine. Hides it’s 9% alcohol. There is a hint of honey as well and a nice lingering hop finish. Nice dipa.

Sample at the taproom. Hazy bright golden color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Strings of lacing. The aroma is hoppy with citrus and pine notes, and some malt in the background. Medium to full body with a piney hops character and flavors of grapefruit and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle. Pours clear light golden with lots of head and lacing. Nose is tropical fruit and sweet malt. Taste is also nice malt with some bitterness in the aftertaste. Great.

Draft. Served in improper glassware. Still pretty rich hazelnut aroma. Dense lace. Flavors of nut brittle, hemp seed, and a whiff of guava pith. Maybe a hint of orange too. Surprisingly pithy finish. Still, an absolute winner.

Bomber on my daughters patio (Laguna Niguel) on 24th May 2015. Cloudy amber pour with a white head. Hops rule the roost here, citrus, tropical fruits in the aroma a bitter bite in the taste. I couldn’t find any honey sweetness, or presence at all in either the nose or flavour. Decent though and certainly a hop forward brew. Alcohol hidden nicely by the depth of hop flavours.

Yum-o! Great looking brew with a large, durable, cream-colored, frothy, fluffy head, loads of lace, and a clear amber color. Aroma is a volatile blend of fresh hops, caramel, & biscuits. Flavor has those characteristics plus carbonic tang, malty sweetness up front, followed by a piney, grapefruity hoppy taste that has a very long finish. Excellent palate with a little alcohol warmth. Very good drinking beer. Yessir.

Pours hazy golden orange. Head is decent. Okay lacing in a pilsner glass. Might perform better in a nonic pint. Aroma of strong grapefruit, honey, pine, grass and orange. Aroma also very floral and complex. Wow. Taste is perfectly balanced between malts and hops for a dbl. Pine, grapefruit and some floral. Subtle honey on finish creates a medium-thick mouthfeel. Finish is bittersweet. Damn, that’s good!!

On draft. Hazy orange gold with one finger head. Honey, lemon, pine aroma. More piney on the taste, but there is still honey. Pretty interesting.
