A little lean but this is well crafted. Dry roast, small doses of spice and plenty of fizz (for the style). Great lift of milk chocolate on the nose. A light touch for the style.

Light retention and good lacing. Smells of caramel, roasted malts, nutmeg and spices. Tastes of toasted malt, caramel, nuts and dark fruit. Bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft: darker orange color, decent lace/retention. Aroma is caramel, chocolate, darker fruit, nut. Medium bodied, lightly sweet, quite drinkable. Pretty nice.

Bottle; poured a clear orange/amber type color with a khaki colored head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, earth, and fruit. A nice blended flavor; roasted, caramel, nutty with a good dose of hops in the finish. Touch of sweetness and more earth in the finish.

In all fairness I have heard this beer is usually good. I had a 12 oz. bottle from an overpriced 4 pack and it was bad. I mean face puckering bad. I am a home brewer and know that bottles do not do justice to any brew so I will give this beer another try and reevaluate my score at that time. The hops seemed to have lost all aroma and were flat out just bitter, as if the hops had been in the freezer for a while.

Thanks to Tim for the hookup while I was away! Pours dark copper with a medium cream head and lots of lacing. Great growler fill, carbonation level is perfect. Aroma is toast and nutty malts covered with loads of fruity esters. Flavor is big caramel and toasted malts upfront with very earthy clean hops and a light roast/burnt malt element in the finish. Really nice beer!

Some caramel malts on nose. Dark cloudy reddish brown. Caramel malt and some spice but weird off metallic taste as well that was pretty objectionable. Not good.

bottle. The pour is copper, with a red hue. The aroma is a nice roasted malt. The taste has malt and caramel in it. pretty good and smooth.

Nice clear brown with a tan foam. Smoky aroma has hints of oak, toast, and nuts. Medium body spiked by the smoke and almond flavors. More biscuit and wood in the finish.
