COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer combines the rich, roasty flavors of a porter with those found in a traditional pumpkin pie. The complex aroma practically jumps from the glass. An intriguing mix of chocolate and spice… The flavor is robust with notes of dark chocolate, pumpkin pie and a caramel sweetness accentuated by a generous addition of molasses to the boil. The interplay of the cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and allspice gives this beer a very pleasant finish. Additional Information: The pumpkins used in this brew were grown at Larry Jacinto farms right down the street from the brewery. We were very excited when Larry told us that he had a great crop of pumpkins growing literally ˝ mile from the brewery. Once the pumpkins were seeded and quartered, we teamed up with the Gourmet Pizza shop in downtown Redlands to utilize their giant pizza oven to help roast all that pumpkin. This beer was a true community effort!

This dark dark brown beer has a spicy aroma. It has a subtle pumpkin flavor upfront. It has a nutty finish and that slight spicy flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A very good pumpkin ale, without too much pumpkin. Pours a beautiful deep black with a thick white head. Smells of spices and a bit of pumpkin. Taste has just a hint of pumpkin in the start, replaced by chocolate milk and vanilla, with some spices and a bit of alcohol warmth in the finish. Had on tap at Sonoma Public House.

Yay for pumpkin beer season. Bomber purchased at Distillers Outlet in Poway in January 2013 ($7.49). This is from the first bottling of Gourdgeous in autumn 2012 and enjoyed two years later. Pours a dark brown hue with nice reddish-garnet highlights and two fingers of beige foam. AROMA of roasted pumpkin, major holiday spice (ginger and allspice stand out), roasted nutty malts, and mild smoky chocolate. FLAVOR of smooth dark-ish chocolate, dark malts, molasses, sticky caramel, roasted notes, vegetal roasted pumpkin, and ending with significant spice. I like that this allows the pumpkin to express itself without the roastiness of the porter taking over, though perhaps the spice could be toned down a little bit. Nicely nuanced and greater than the sum of its parts. Certainly one of the better pumpkin beers that I have tried, though I am unsure of how the two years of aging has affected it. (50, 924)

I’m never sure when a beer is going to fall into the spiced beer category or it’s base beer style. This is as spiced as any beer but classed as it’s base, a strong porter. Pretty nice job with the pumpkin and spices, as expected from this brewer. Light roast and chocolate, moderate levels of pie spice and pumpkin. Quite smooth and tasty.

On tap at Harry’s Hofbrau. Like many pumpkin beers, this is really pumpkin spice and Porter. A lot of upfront allspice and nutmeg. Color is brown with some red or orange highlights. Tastes similar to smell. Get slight chocolate and minimal roast from the base beer. Not a bad pumpkin beer as far as they go.

I like cool whip on my pumpkin pie. This has the pumpkin the crust and the cool whip. Great nutmeg aroma. Sweet maltiness. Nice mouthfeel. Why didn't I buy another bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
