COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer combines the rich, roasty flavors of a porter with those found in a traditional pumpkin pie. The complex aroma practically jumps from the glass. An intriguing mix of chocolate and spice… The flavor is robust with notes of dark chocolate, pumpkin pie and a caramel sweetness accentuated by a generous addition of molasses to the boil. The interplay of the cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and allspice gives this beer a very pleasant finish. Additional Information: The pumpkins used in this brew were grown at Larry Jacinto farms right down the street from the brewery. We were very excited when Larry told us that he had a great crop of pumpkins growing literally ½ mile from the brewery. Once the pumpkins were seeded and quartered, we teamed up with the Gourmet Pizza shop in downtown Redlands to utilize their giant pizza oven to help roast all that pumpkin. This beer was a true community effort!

Surprisingly tasty and unique beer well crafted from this brewery. A good balance of porter, pumpkin spices, and molasses. Yes, better than it sounds. Lovely spice comes through. Light orange with a lasting head. Very smooth mouthfeel, full drinkable experience. Thanks forhookingg me up OCBeer.

On tap at Beer Revolution. It pours a very dark crimson brown color with a handsome tan head. The aroma jumps out as earthy squash vegetable with some sweeter dark fruity malt and nicely integrated allspice, nutmeg and ginger. Not a cinnamon bomb thankfully. The flavor is more off the same with mashed, cooked pumpkin, mild dark cherry and subdued but present spices. It finishes with a welcome surprise of roasted malt. Full bodied, but not too sweet. Really good beer. One of the top pumpkin beers I’ve had.

Bottle at jtclockwork’s place for a tasting. Pours a mostly clear brown with a thin beige head. Big spicy gingerbread on the nose, roast and a bit of bakers cocoa. Medium bodied, spicy malt and toast, pie spices, warm roast and malt. A bit of alcohol peeks through. Chocolate and cocoa linger over pie spices into the finish. Interesting and tasty.

Bottle shared by me at tasting at my house. Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose and taste of pumpkin, molasses, gingerbread cookie, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar. Medium body or slightly less than medium.

Pumpkin pie spices along with a light vegetal gourd aroma and a bit of salty sea air pop out of a truly gorgeous dark amber/ruby body with a light tan head that dissipates quickly. The spices come on strong with cinnamon and nutmeg showing prominently but not too much or out of proportion. There’s a really good pumpkin flavor here that’s missing from a lot of spiced pumpkin ales. The roasted malt plays perfectly against this with a light char and some dark chocolate. The body is medium and has a good heft without feeling thick. This is more of an English style porter and seems very drinkable despite the 8.5% ABV which is not obvious at all. Finishes smooth, leaving behind the spice and chocolate. Excellent seasonal beer that I hope will be a yearly offering.

Bottle:   Deep brown, dark, moderate frothy beige head, dies quickly, spotty lacing.   Soft roasted malt, but mainly a nice cinnamon and nutmeg collaboration.   Very fresh and bright.   Spicy up front, cinnamon, nutmeg, with a nice roasted malt aspect.   Very well balanced between the roastiness and the spices.   Probably one of the better Porter examples of a spiced ale that I have had in a long time.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Clean finish, bright cinnamon and nutmeg on top of sweet soft roasted malts.   Not a bitter nor overly malty example, well balanced, and a damn treat to drink!

San Diego Strong Ale Fest 2012. Clear brown color with tan sheen. Big allspice, cinnamon, caramel, pumpkin pie mix aromas. Same big ass allspice, cinnamon notes in the flavor along with some roasted nuts, and dark caramel-missed the pumpkin here--still good tho

Wow. This might be the best porter I have ever had. It's spicy, cinnamon, with massive yam flavor. It's so unique, but in a way where I wish this was more common. I LOVE this. Going back to boring pumpkin ales will be awful.

From a bottle bought at Bevmo, pours dark with a minimal head. The nose is very light with some spice and hints of nutmeg, it tastes of pumpkin and eggnog and has a lasting finish. Overall a good fall beer but not one you want to drink all night as its a little high in abv. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
