2.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Not that pleasant of an aroma bordering on stale caramel (?). Smallish light brown head with very little lacing. Fares a little better in the flavor - but not much. Date flavor definitely present but not overdone.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
May 23rd, 2013 - Hanger 24’s Palmero is a firm testament to California’s agricultural sector, which may not be a glittery and blitzed as Hollywood, but is a core of the state’s economy, and comes with its own beautiful vistas and photography worthy sights. The crop for this brew is dates, which produces a light and cheery nose filled with brown sugar, hickory smoke, a tiny bit of bacon, and the dates the label brags about. The flavor is more sugary and sweet, and cut with a bit of booze. The smokey bacon aroma returns to the flavor in a light and fluffy mouthfeel form, with a nice delivery and good flavor. The aftertaste witnesses the slow ebbing of the smoked taste to leave something more mild, and nutty. Given the flavors inside, May may not be the best time to drink this, but keep this in your stash until Fall and you’ll have something well worth drinking as leaves drift to the dirt.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Anchorage Sept ’14 Tasting: Poured a murky copper orange with off white bubble head. Aroma was dates and citrus fruit. Taste was a sticky sweet with caramel, dates, spice forward, but also had a citrus fruity edge as well.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nice double, particularly so for the low (relatively speaking) ABV. I’m getting everything I expect from this style in this brew. Is it the best out there? No. But it’s solid.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Looks okay. Aroma is sweet and sticky. The flavor of this is strange; a weird fruitiness but not exactly identifiable as dates The sweetness and sugars are right on par with a sweet dubbel, but this is almost headache-inducing for me. One of Hangar’s worst beers, IMO.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
"Not as much depth as expeted, but works very well as a dessert beer, or maybe with rich dishes. Quite sweet both from the dates, and the layers of maltiness in the brew. Just a hint of belgian spiciness in the back end."

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
14oz sample on tap at The Burger Saloon in Woodland. The aroma has a sweet dusty and musty character. Some pitted fruits, raisins, caramel, and a little burnt rubber is present. Somewhat hazy copper-amber body with a medium, fizzy off-yellow head present. Starts sweet, sugary, and caramelly. Plenty of toffee. Quite carbonated at first. Becomes lightly fruity with some floral esters in the middle. Finishes a little bland. Kind of light, and pretty one-dimensional.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Overall not a bad beer. Pours a cloudy orange-brown with a white head. Smells of dates and citrus. Taste starts almost sour, but then give way to the Belgian flavoring with some citrus. Had in the bottle.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear amber pour with small off white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, bread dough and faint fruits. Taste of caramel, bready, yeasty, slight spice, and faint dates. Full bodied with lower carbonation, slightly cloying as it warmed.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cloudy copper pour with a modest off white head. Slight brown sugar aroma but not much there. Medium body with a familiar Belgian... something. Waiting for the dark, dried fruit but not getting it. Slightly off sweet, thin taste, just not much going on. Sweeter as it warms but underwhelming all around. Would I drink again? maybe. Would I order again? no.
