Polycot is a wheat beer brewed with hundreds of pounds of organic apricots grown in Southern California’s High Desert. We brew this beer during the very small window of time when the apricots are at their peak of freshness, usually early July. The pureed apricots add a wonderful fruit flavor to the beer and combine with the wheat for a refreshing tart finish. This beer goes down smooth, but at over 1.5 times the alcohol of the Orange Wheat, it will sneak up on you. Additional Information: The name Polycot (Poly=Many cot=Apricot) is a modification of the original name Paulycot. Paul-yicot was named for owner Ben Cook’s friend Paul who provided the apricots for the initial batch. Hangar 24 would also like to acknowledge and thank the many volunteers who spend hours pitting (and de-stickering) thousands of apricots for the brew. We couldn’t make this wonderful beer without you!

Lists itself on the bottle as a “wheat-wine style ale brewed with fresh apricots” Bottled: unk Pours a light golden hazed ale with scatter surface white foams. Smells of wheat, pepper, a little sugar, some hints of apricot blossoms (rather than the meaty fruit I do so love) and a hint of almost American yeast. Pleasant, but simple nose. Flavor is nice and fruity now, a good hit of apricots, very sweet, however. A little bit of the wheat character in the back. Full bodied with low carb and a watery finish. Of the wheatwines I’ve had, this one is pretty decent, but nonetheless, this just may not be my style. Serving type: bottle 09-14-2012

A hazed golden ale with a thick frothy off white head. In aroma, a light grassy malt with light peaches, powdery, OK. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with peaches, light soapy notes, grassy, OK. Bottle at Downtown Brew fest LV 2013.

On Tap. Very attractive hazy orange and yellow color with a white head. Light tart, slight apricot, and clean, light grain in the aroma. Taste is very clean with light tart fruit (hard to pick out apricot), dry grain, and perhaps some residual lemon. Not quite a fruit beer but certainly not a hefeweizen. Decent.

Served on tap. Light sweet aroma. Very cloudy almost milky, pale yellow, light head with persistent lacing. Tart fruity taste of apricots. Thin feel and high carbonation goes with the fruit well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Beachwood Seal Beach. Cloudy full haze glowing gold. Webby lace. Estery but sticky malty nose. Taste is bright, mildly buttery with a finish of juicy and tangy yellow fruit. Peaches and bananas here. Actually pretty good.

Sample at Kinetic Brewing Company. Cloudy bright yellow-gold pour with a medium white head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of wheat, apricot and herbs. Medium body with flavors of yeast, apricots and bready malt. The finish is fruity with an apricot and yeast aftertaste. Decent all around.

Bottle:   Pale straw, extremely hazy, thick, moderate to large frothy white head, spotty lacing.   Fruity nose, seems like Apricot or even immature peach.   Not as bright as I was hoping tho.   Big wheaty mouthfeel, sweet, soft fruitiness that at this time seems a bit non-descript.   It doesn’t scream Apricot to me.   However, as it warms it becomes a bit more apparent.   Because of its big wheatiness, this one is fairly full bodied.   Backside is clean, lingering Apricot, albeit a bit subtle.   Very surprised to see this is 7.2% as it doesn’t drink like it at all.   Thanks Ron for the bottle!
