COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Polycot is a wheat beer brewed with hundreds of pounds of organic apricots grown in Southern California’s High Desert. We brew this beer during the very small window of time when the apricots are at their peak of freshness, usually early July. The pureed apricots add a wonderful fruit flavor to the beer and combine with the wheat for a refreshing tart finish. This beer goes down smooth, but at over 1.5 times the alcohol of the Orange Wheat, it will sneak up on you. Additional Information: The name Polycot (Poly=Many cot=Apricot) is a modification of the original name Paulycot. Paul-yicot was named for owner Ben Cook’s friend Paul who provided the apricots for the initial batch. Hangar 24 would also like to acknowledge and thank the many volunteers who spend hours pitting (and de-stickering) thousands of apricots for the brew. We couldn’t make this wonderful beer without you!

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2009 #100. Draft at the brewery, the only place you can get it so far. Poured a dark orange witha nice white head. Extremely cloudy, light cant penetrate through it. Aroma of fresh apricots. Tasted like fresh apricots as well, with a slight tartness in the backround, very nice. A nice drinker for the summer, but at 7.1% can sneak up on you. real good beer.

growler thanks to Hophead22, pours light orange with a thin white head. Looks just like orange juice in the glass. Aroma is wet grass, wheat, oats and of course, apricots. Faint notes of alcohol as well. Flavor is very nice, this is creamy as hell, pale malts, sweet wheat and apricot with a mild tartness in the vein of orange peel in the finish with not a trace of the boozy aroma. This is delicious stuff, light and delicate but with tons of good flavors going on and would be very nice in the morning or served with a brunch.

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2012 650 ml bottle from bev4less. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a small white head that soon recedes to a fine film. The aroma is mild and indistinct with (perhaps) sweet malts and a hint of spice. The flavor is earthy apricots with sweet breads and some biscuit character. The palate is medium with lively carbonation. Finishes long with lingering apricots and a bit of metallic aftertaste. Overall: Very tasty apricot brew.

This is the 2011 release. Sampled on 3/31/2012. This fruit wheat pours a cloudy orange gold/apricot color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and wheaty, apricot and semi-sweet. A medium bodied fruit wheat beer The malts are cereal, fruity and semi-sweet, with a nice clean apricot flavor. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. Flavors might be a little muted, as this is a year old bottle. Nice apricot flavors though. Not too sweet. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Soft fresh earthy apricot aroma. Milky orange with a thin head. The flavor is of soft apricot sweetness, a mild tartness, and a little alcohol. Light carbonation creates a smooth brew. Soft fruit lingers on the palate.
