COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pugachev Royale is a more developed version of Cobra. We added cacao nibs and vanilla beans to a select few barrels of Pugachevís Cobra during its eight months in Bourbon Barrels, then transferred it to brandy barrels for an additional 10 months of aging. Royale displays sweet, ripe fruit notes doused with incredible chocolate aromatics. This is a truly decadent beer to be saved for a special occasion, and will evolve in the cellar for years to come. Approximately 400 hand-numbered 11.2 oz bottles will be available in the Tasting Room only. Purchases of Royale will be limited to one per guest.

Bottle shared by Bytemesis! Thanks! Nose is strong bourbon, cocoa, vanilla, lots of chocolate. Taste is also strong chocolate and vanilla. a touch of booze with some smooth alcohol warming, never hot or harsh. Vanilla really comes through as it warms. Wow, what a beer!

Bottle with mega-thanks to Alen! Shared in the early stages of the Homer "welcome to California tasting. Pours opaque black with a tiny tan head. Aroma has lots of bourbon, brandy I guess as well. chocolate, molasses, roasty malts, dark sugars. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, strong bourbon, lots of vanilla here as well. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. This is a darn nice beer, but it is not surprising given how good Cobra is.

Bottle #170/450, 2013 vintage. Small bottle sample, thnx to Kermis for leaving me some. Pours a headless pitch black beer, no carbonation but that could be because the recapping. Aroma is exactly how I want my BA imp to smell. Full sweet aroma of chocolate, barrel, oak, mocha, vanilla and massive wood. Flavor is rather sweet, boozy and has big influences of chocolate and mocha in the back. Burning alcohol sensation when swallowed. Oily texture. Lovely brew for sure! Liquid epicness.

Bottle shared thanks to trade with Alen. Pours near black with a ring beige head. Aroma of wood, bourbon but softened by the additional brandy barrel aging, milk chocolate, caramel and malt. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Fudge and molasses coming out in the palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation. This is absolutley amazing stuff.

Bottle shared at The Bruery - massive thanks to GT for procuring and sharing this one. Pours oily black-brown with a fine, creamy beige head. The nose holds dark malts, chocolate, burnt wood and honey. Medium sweet flavor with oily chocolate, further honey, wood, light alcohol presence and burnt toffee. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate warmth to finish, lightly woody, with more oily chocolate, modest earthy bitterness, vanilla, toffee, toasty barrel. Very deep and layered. Great beer.

Bottle into wine glass. Wonderful chocolate, vanilla, coffee, roast, and bittersweet aroma, pitch black with small tan that dissipates fairly quickly. Tastes of bittersweet chocolate, hint of vanilla, slightly oaky, some coffee, and dark fruits. Starts off something fierce with the chocolate, finishes nice, with a slight burn. Very complex, think I could do with a little less chocolate, so not as sweet, but an excellent treat overall.

Half-bottle, poured into a snifter glass. Aroma is brandy forward with notes of sweet caramel apple and almonds. Aroma follows into a more intense fresh wort, dark malt, maple, bakers cocoa, and finally dark fruits (plums). Distinct bourbon flavor seems missing, but no complaints as the brandy works well with the sweeter fruit smell. Pour is pitch black with no head, but there are sheets of alcohol present as you swirl it around the glass. Taste is rich fudge, faint maple, apple brandy, marshmallow, and boozy brandy finish Ė not a ton of complexity but very tasty. Body is full with low carbonation Ė very fluffy and silky on the tongue. Barrel flavors are dominant and itís nice that not much tannins or astringency show up. The finish is mostly brandy heat with some vanilla. Overall a pretty sweet barrel aged beer with sweet fruit and faint bitter chocolate to balance it out a bit.

Bottle @ The Bruery, thanks to GT and Whitney. Black pour with a small tan head. Intense nutty aroma. Lots of vanilla, fudge, dark fruit, and peanut butter. A bit of cocoa pebbles, bourbon, and booze. Flavor is pleasantly sweet. Tons of chocolate/cocoa pebbles, peanut butter, and fudge. Dark fruits, vanilla, and bourbon. Some oak, roast, and light bitterness and booze on the finish.
