Pugachev Royale is a more developed version of Cobra. We added cacao nibs and vanilla beans to a select few barrels of Pugachev’s Cobra during its eight months in Bourbon Barrels, then transferred it to brandy barrels for an additional 10 months of aging. Royale displays sweet, ripe fruit notes doused with incredible chocolate aromatics. This is a truly decadent beer to be saved for a special occasion, and will evolve in the cellar for years to come. Approximately 400 hand-numbered 11.2 oz bottles will be available in the Tasting Room only. Purchases of Royale will be limited to one per guest.
2013: 14.8% ABV

Bottle shared at The Bruery - massive thanks to GT for procuring and sharing this one. Pours oily black-brown with a fine, creamy beige head. The nose holds dark malts, chocolate, burnt wood and honey. Medium sweet flavor with oily chocolate, further honey, wood, light alcohol presence and burnt toffee. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate warmth to finish, lightly woody, with more oily chocolate, modest earthy bitterness, vanilla, toffee, toasty barrel. Very deep and layered. Great beer.

355ml bottle. Dark pour, heavy body, maple syrup and soy sauce sort of the like toppling goiath beer of this ilk.

Bottle... This beer lifts!… Pours dark brown and sits black in my glass with no head. Aroma is a luxuriant swirl of vanilla, toasted coconut, brownies and maple syrup. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and faint carbonation. The flavor features rich, decadent, bittersweet mocha, vanilla and a boozy blend of bourbon and brandy. Molasses, liquor warmth and fudge stick around a good while after each sip. A world-class treatment of a world class imperial stout. These folks have proven time and again that they know what the heck they’re doing. The bottle was provided by newcigarz. Thanks so much, Tony!

Bottle shared thanks to trade with Alen. Pours near black with a ring beige head. Aroma of wood, bourbon but softened by the additional brandy barrel aging, milk chocolate, caramel and malt. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Fudge and molasses coming out in the palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation. This is absolutley amazing stuff.

355mL black wax #268/450 from the cold and rainy release at H24. Deep sepia pour with almost no foam, but give it a twirl and there are some really nice legs on the snifter like liquor. Intense malted milk ball nose with cocoa crisps, soft barrel, maple syrup, pancake batter. Inviting with a medley of rich brown dessert flavors. Taste is cocoa puffs, malted milk balls, vanilla, graham cracker, amaretto. Flashes of diet cola. No barrel heat. Slightly overoaked tannic bite in the finish. Good...will revisit this one in a few months. Not worth cellaring as it is already very aged and is good to go.
