COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our fall seasonal is an ode to the brewing traditions of Germany. This amber lager is brewed in true Reinheitsgebot fashion using the finest imported German Malt, German Hops and German Yeast. Incredibly clean and balanced, this lager has a wonderful malty backbone and a hint of earthy hops. Traditionally released in early fall, this beer will make you want to stand up and sing "Ein Prosit!" Additional Information: The Oktoberfest in Munich started in 1810 as a celebration of the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. The festival was such a hit that it turned into an annual event celebrated for 16 days from late September to early October. Oktoberfest beer comes from the Marzen style. These beers were bigger, richer beers brewed in March and stored in caves during the hot months of summer. In the fall, they were enjoyed at the Oktoberfest celebration.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours copper with a slight beige head. Aroma is malty with a little noble/earthy hop. Flavor is pretty much the same. There’s enough hop to give a little tang to the maltiness.

Pours amber in color with a finger of white head. Nose is rather malty with a nice toasted malt note and plenty of bread. A touch of toffee sweetness, floral and spicy hops, and a light yeastiness. The flavor is really heavy on the bread. Lots of toffee and toast with a moderate sweetness. Some floral and earthy hops, a light spiciness, and some yeast. The flavor is a bit grainy on the finish.

Bottle... Clear amber ale with a small, wispy, stubborn, white head. The aroma furnishes notes of orange blossom honey, marmalade and biscuit accompanied by a lightly earthy factor. Full-bodied with restrained carbonation. The flavor is a swirl of marmalade, toffee, honey and a mild notation of earthy bitterness. The sweet, malty finish is a touch medicinal. This is a really good Oktoberfest. Malty and grassy, yet with just the right amount of sweetness. A filling beer, but quite right for the season. A cloudy-ish orange color.

On tap at the LAX Marriott, which has a surprisingly rad beer selection. Wasn’t too thrilled that this was the H24 seasonal, but it turned out to be far better than the usual marzen. In some ways it reminded me of the Foothills version, which is bracingly hoppy to balance out sweet malts. Enjoyable, especially for the style.
