2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dusseldorf altbier style, although not a very good one. Color and aroma is right, but taste and palate are weak and watery.

3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark ruby copper body with slight off-white frothy head. Aroma is malts and hay. some hops. Palate is soft medium bodied, carbonation is soft and lively. Taste is caramel, malty with some dry bitter hops flavors. Finish is little bread, and sweet to dry hoppy taste, which is refreshing. Overall decent alt, average but good.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Big buttery malt nose, with some cookies and sugar. Clear dark tea color.Solid malty initial / some unusual plastic/chemical pruney off-flavor in mid / finish is light and clean, with mild bitter tracks. Okay, except for that off-flavor. Nice aroma, for sure.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
Fresh and clean aroma, with a simple malty taste and a kind of non-existant aftertaste, is a aceptable beer and a very drinkable one.
For cap collectors: a brassy cap with the "Hannen alt" label imprint.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
4.8% about 450 yen from Rakuten. I bought this for the cool retro fist graphic on the label. Possibly my first Altbier from Germany. It pours a light brown but is very clear with a light beige head. The aroma is a sweet sugary caramel malts with freshly crushed grains. Medium to full body, nicely balanced, a bit nutty, a little bitter & a touch sweet with some biscuity grain flavor. Not bad.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
50cl bottle, picked up at the Lippstadt Trinkgut, pours with a clear amber body that supports a nice looking white-ish nearly firm tan head of foam. The modest aroma offers up some roasted malts to go along with a lesser degree of sweet nuttiness and malt sweetness. The taste is similar where a decent load of roasted malts give ground to nuttiness and then a touch of dark toasted bread. Overall pretty enjoyable.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a clear brown and a bit of orange highlight with light tan head. Smell is roasted malt, graham crackers. Taste is pretty sweet roasted malt, A bit of dryness and slight bitterness on the end. Light body with average carbonation. Not a particularly good altbier..too sweet with out much in the way of interesting flavor. Gotta love the new label though - it looks like an industrial safety sign!

Had this on draught in 0.2l glasses (served in a box of 9 or a board of 16), 0.33l and 0.5l mugs, and from a 10l faß at the Hannen Faß pub, St Martin’s Platz 1, Kaiserslautern, Germany, from 1993-1997, 2001, and 2011-present. I have never had it bottled or canned.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml Bottle. It pours a thin lacy white head that soon vannishes leaving a light brown clear body. Theres a sweet, malty, biscuity, yeasty nose to it and it tastes very much the same with a hint of toffee and fruits. It has a slightly dry finish. Not a unpleasant dark beer and as my 1st Alt beer Im encouraged to have more. But it is essentially a little unremarkable.
