Gr0ve (1113), Oslo, Norway Nov 19, 2005 330ml bottle. This is the stronger version of the same beer (klasse D) sold in grocery stores. I liked the low alchol one a lot, and I like this too, but I’m not as impressed with this one as the stronger versions of the Christmas beers usually stand out more easily. This one does not. Head dissipates immediately. Deep brown red color. Malty aroma which is fruity and rich. Rounded body. Low bitterness and the hops does not get in the way of the malts. Caramel malts does not stand out even though this is a very nicely rounded beer. Enjoyit (1104), Vadum, Denmark Mar 21, 2008 Deep brown of color with a nice beige head. An aroma of caramel, chocolate and roasted malt. A flavor of dark fruits, roasted malt, hints of liqurice and bitter malty notes. Pretty nice. cgarvieuk (2525), Edinburgh, Scotland Sep 26, 2007 Bottle ay Home ... I think if KnutALbert to thanks for this ... Deep red ... very rich lots of dark fruit cherry and chocolate nose ... Cherry violets ... deep fruit and sweet malts ... little alchohol in linger orange liqour ... starts very nice (3.8) but pales a bit. Beer_2000 (1269), Kristiansand, Norway Jan 9, 2008 330 ml bottle. Very nice clear amber body with a dense foamy beige head. Aroma is vague roasted malt and caramel with a hint of alcohol. Flavor is roasted malt, caramel and a little hint of dry fruit and coffee with traces of hops. This beer is balanced and harmonic but not outstanding. It’s a bit better and matured than the low alcohol version (4,5%) but comparing with the competitors in both classes, the low ABV is more outstanding. Sigmund (1961), Hafrsfjord, Norway Nov 1, 2005 330 ml bottle. This is a new strong "klasse F" Yule/Christmas brew, for the Vinmonopolet segment of the Norwegian beer market. The style may be described as a cross-breed between a strong Vienna or Dunkel and a dark Bock. Deep chestnut colour, moderate light tan head. Malty aroma with a mild roastiness, notes of dark bread, caramel and oak. Flavour is malty sweet with some caramel and bready notes, very moderate hops. Light bodied for its strength and colour. Easy drinking. I really miss some more hops here. Nothing offensive about it, but this will not be my favourite "klasse F" Christmas beer.
