4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 JoeAgain (62) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 25, 2007
An import that’s more like what you’d expect from the Dortmund region. Rich, creamy, good malt flavor but never cloying. Good hop flavor and aroma. A bit heavier than a Munich beer on all counts, which is exactly the way it’s supposed to be!
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Braudog (4473) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - APR 8, 2007
From a 1/2 litre bottle at the cathedral known as Brickskeller, Washington, under the "Hansa Dortmunder" label. Smooth and golden with a thin white top, as expected. Very smooth across the tongue ... cereal malt, corn, and wheat here, but in a well balanced way. Nice little subtle hop finish. Classic to style. (#2776, 4/6/2007)

I really like this in the bottle best.
Very flavoursome. Almost a citrus aftertaste at times.

Not great, but it certainly didn’t suck. It was above average overall, but in comparison to most german beers its not at the top of the list, however even an average german beer is better than most others.
3.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 backdown (1) - Manchester, New Jersey, USA - APR 25, 2008 does not count
this beer is certainly not as bad as rated, aroma is great, freshly cut hay, pilsner malt, light/balanced hops, Drank out of a bottle, good economic buy.

Bottle Code 7 26 L
Pours mid-golden with faint carbonation under a short, white head. Equal amounts of complimentary pale malts and noble hops... each showing strong and mouthwatering. Malts dominate the flavor but continental hops provide a slight bitter turn in the finish. Man, I could drink this all day. A good <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/View-User-14352.htm&g of mine reviewed this same beer in July of 2005, purchased from the same location... and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was from the same stock. That being said, the beer held up really well.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 crossovert (2545) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 21, 2011
Incredible price on this stuff, extremely cheap. Best before 14.02.11.
It pours into my DAB mug a nice gold with a rocky white head. It doesn’t seem as pale as DAB.
The smell is sweet and bready with a light pinch of earthy hops.
The taste is light with a kiss of hop bitterness and some generic pale malts. It is lighter in flavor than DAB. The mouthfeel is light and airy. For the price though this beer is exceptional, I would buy it again and again.
It would be easy to polish of a 6er of these in 1 night, the beer is very easy to put down.
Overall it is a style with few German examples that make it over here, of the 3 I have had it is the cheapest and least impressive but still a solid beer.

Pint bottle: Hansa's a good all-around import. It's one of the more popular imports around here.
