Tasted on the taps at pretty much every place serving this in Bergen and countless both boxes and bottles during the years. As this has been the beer I grew up with, the first beer I ever tasted and by far the beer that has gotten the most time in my mouth, throat and stomach, so I decided to dedicate my rating #1000 to it. It doesn’t really look any different from any of your average pale, fizzing and boring lager from any of the big companies. Light golden and clear with some visible unfiltered lager-particles under a small, sidesticking and lightly lacing just off-white lager-head is what you get here. Does not look so great in the glass by it self, but damn, when you are being served this in Bergen, outdoors in the burning summer sun you both look damn cool and it makes you feel like a king - and I guess that’s all that really matters. The aroma and taste brings back long-forgotten childhood memories from when every sip was a hard and horrible experience that wrenched your face inside-out in agony. At least it did so unless the bottle had been freezed down to slush-content or you’d already managed to squeeze down eight or nine of ’em. It’s light grainy and kinda sour-malish but there’s also some dusty hops lurking in the background on this old slugger. No extreme or over-interesting flavors here in other words but that’s not the point either. It both tastes like, has the standard amount of lager-carbonation, mouthfeel and appearances as your average macro lager, but still for me this is quite a unique beer. Skål for the first 1000, Hansa Pils and my good beer buddies here on Ratebeer that has given me quite a few interesting and epic beer tasting evenings: GlubGonzo and InBreak :-)

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at Sjøboden (Bergen). Golden body with a thin, lasting creamy head. Ordinary malty/hoppy aroma with bready hints. Taste is boring and rather watery. It carries light herbal notes and ends with a short bitter/herbal finish. Useless.

Straw color with a ultra white head. Herbal hops and pale grain aromas. Really thick and chewy for style. Sweet and dense flavors. Closer to a premium lager.

An orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of straw. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of hay, and with a dry end. Very simple.

500 ml can. Golden colour and a very tall coarse white head. Refreshing metallic hoppy aroma which a pilsener should have. Lightly bitter when it enters the mouth, but the body is lacking and the beer ends up a watery mess. Light-bodied. Somewhat fruity, but the little fruitiness there is is drowned by the bittering hops. Leaves a drying sensation in the mouth. Nice pilsener but could do with a more substantive malt flavour and body.

Can @ my uncle’s. A very pale golden with a small creamy white head. Aroma is very mild, a distant feel of malts and citric hops. Thin mouthfeel. Lightly metallic flavour. Quite sweet at first, but with a good dose of peppery bitterness at the end. Uninspiring.

Et helt greit og leskende standard øl. Lite spennende, men leskende i sommer varmen.
