3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
50cl can from the local grocery store. Best before 2016-02-18. It poured a golden orange colour with a big white foamy head that settled down fast. Aroma is moderately sweet with notes of hops and tropical fruits. Hints of sweet caramel malts. Flavour is a bit thin, but not watery. Light bitterness. The hops and tropical fruits are more toned down than the aroma. Some malt, but no caramel. Some grass. Faint metallic notes. Short aftertaste. Honestly I wasn’t expecting much from this, but for a session IPA at only 4.6% ABV it’s a decent beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can from Bergen Rimi. Bright copper amber skimmed with white. Aroma of treacle draped tinned peach; beeswax, pollen, sticky sweet resins. Intensely floral to the point of soapiness with a punchy hit of pine and resin beneath. Tomato stem and pot pourri burps. It would be unthinkable for Hansa’s English equivalent to put a beer this good in 500ml tins on supermarket shelves. A bit like Banks’s Wetherspoons take on Devils Backbone but much better. Deeply Californian. Getting a bit of a taste for these (Norwegian) west coast IPAs.
