UPDATED: OCT 29, 2011 Bottle 330ml. A brown amber colour with a very short-lasting tanned head. An aroma of caramel, bread, coffee and some roasted notes. The taste is medium sweet. A light body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation and a medium long finish.

Bottle 330ml. Great malty beer. Aromas of roasted caramel, with hints of chocolate. Taste is sweet, with long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Dark brown, with a thin head.

A copper to amber pour with a tall off-white head and gold edging. Sweet malts fill the nose, accompanied by a subtle mix of spice and baked fruits. These are subdued on the palate, where the malt dominates; however, an apple flavour does develop. It’s lacking a yeast character and as such is somewhat simplistic. The mouth feel is medium; carbonation is spritzy due to the forced process. It finishes with malts, but here the sweetness fades to allow a light hoppy end. All in all, a pleasant bock.

Pours with a nice foamy, frothy, thick, fluffy, fine, cream colored to very light tan head that slowly subsides with a few little bubble trails and some lace. Color is a clear chestnut brown. Aroma is hop, malt, roasty, toffee, caramel, cereal. Flavor is like nose and heavy on the malt components. Not overly sweet. Body is good and so is carbonation. Finish is like flavor and is medium in length. Decent beer and I’m glad I have two more bottles.Nice to see no adjuncts. All in all, a solid effort

Mahogany with a beige head that fades to a good coat. Rich aroma of caramel and toasted nuts. Oily mouthfeel. Taste is a little less rich than suggested by the aroma: caramel, nuts, raisins and dates with some drying finishing bitterness. Sound but not very interesting to me.

Thanks Jer for bringing this one back from Africa! Pours amber with low white head. Nose of caramel, spice. Taste of lots of sweet malt, some nuts and honey notes. Nice beer, but finish a bit unpleasant.
