3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Krasulak (88) - Wapadrand, Pretoria, SOUTH AFRICA - SEP 14, 2004
Bottled. 2004 vintage named "Urbock". Ruby colour with amber highlights. Moderate yellow tinged white head, that decays quickly. Aroma dominated by caramel, chocolate, molasses with a touch of yeast. Flavour reflects the aroma - chocolate malt, caramel, sweet molasses, mild hoppiness. Hides its "voltage" (abv) very well. Pleasant thickish mouthfeel. Dry finish with a touch of bitterness. A pretty good bock. This beer is in an entirely different league compared with other Namibia Brewery and the South African SAB offerings, that are commonly available around here (South Africa).
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 grant (842) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - SEP 10, 2004
Dark amber/brown. Average head formation and retention. Aroma is semi-sweet chocolate, slight smoke and burnt pot roast. Some cinnamon and freshly cut grass as well. Flavor is very round, floating malt chords with a salty, undulating staccato of levity. Fades into a soft sort of sourness and wisps of vague roastiness. Lots of alcohol in this finish, and a slightly obnoxious, uproarious bitterness. Pretty good, but not up to the level of the Dreher sampled immediately prior. Funny how they go, these ratings.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 mixamatt (427) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUL 8, 2004
Malty caramel chocolate aroma.Dark chestnut appearance with good sized head. Mellow sweet chocolate malt flavor with mild hoppiness and a thickish mouthfeel. with spritzy carbonation. Hides its alcohol well. One of the best bock beers i have tried.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - JUL 2, 2004
Bottle. Dark, cloudy brass, medium decaying head. Very, very sweet brown sugar nose, with molasses, sweet grape juice and Mountain Dew in evidence. Very sweet and sugary on the tongue, little acid and little hops...clean, dry finish keeps it from cloying too much.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Jokes (1453) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 4, 2004
BB 7/03. Hazy orange red sunset with a thick, but quickly diminishing, tan head. Malty nose full of biscuits, baked bread, caramel, raisin and a little whole grain. The body is nice, but a little thin. The flavor is full and malty with the breads truly dominating. Not really as sweet as I would have thought, which is nice. The addition of more hops would balance this out and make it more enjoyable. Good for a Namibian beer, average for what I normally drink.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 kook (2033) - Perth, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA - JAN 28, 2004
Pours clear ruby amber with a large dark beige head. OK retention too. Lovely malty toffee aroma, with a bit of chocolate there as well. Fairly thin mouthfeel, though smooth, not too watery. Sweet start with a very well balanced mid and finish. Lovely malty aftertaste lingers. Touch of alcohol there too. Suprising!

BeanDip is the rater that hooked a brother up with a nonnative brew, And You Rock, or Dip!
Pours a magnificent gleaming mahogany body with a tower of caramel insulating foam above. The nose is HEAVY with molasses, honeycomb, grains, caramel, - smells like a mead!? The flavor is ALL MALT. Very sweet a bit peppery, with big suggestions of plum and date, Very tasty! The palate is more thin than expected but overall this brew has a pleasant mouth feel and a warming finish…….. Me Likey!

This is a fine German Bock...brewed in Africa. My bottle indicates 7%. Quite good, as good as most Bocks I've had.
