Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 25, 2008 (Bottle 34 cl) Clear orangey brown with a dense, creamy, beige head leaving laces. Aroma of roasted malt, Danish rye, nuts and and alcohol. Quite full-bodied with plenty of sweet, roasted malt, burned caramel and nut accents. Subdued bitterness. This really is a genuine malt bomb, and this is an excellent Bock. No denying that Namibia is an old German colony. 120508 omhper (12153), Stockholm, Sweden Mar 6, 2002 Dark nut brown. Very malty, crystalized sugar in the palate. On of uthe classier beers in the whole of Africa.
Sampled the 2000 version in March 2002: Richly, malty, loads of crystalized sugar. Well balanced with some late bitterness. Probably doesn’t develope much on bottle, but doesn’t deteriorate either. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Mar 5, 2009 Bottle 340ml. @ [ Ulfborg Tasting ]. [ As Namibia Urbock ]. [ Courtesy of Maria ]. Clear dark red amber color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, roasted, caramel, overriped raisin, moderate to heavy syrup. Flavor is heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is soft. [20081202] Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Apr 24, 2001 Dark amber colour; heavy malt aroma and palate. A straightforward beer, but with a great depth of malt flavours, chewy and earthy, amazing when you consider how hot Namibia is. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Dec 3, 2008 The color is dark, red-brown and the head is creamy. The aroma has notes of malt, syrup and raisin. The flavour has sweetness and loads of syrup and some raisin. In the slightly dry finish, I also find notes of licorice. The sweetness is a bit too strong, but apart from that, it is a nice beer. Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Jul 7, 2003 bottled 2000, sampled 7/2003 - amber-brown colour, few head, complex aroma of licorice, cherry and smoke, malt, alcohol and tea, the flavour is tart and bitter followed by an explosive aftertaste of caramel, alcohol and malt - nice stuff, thank you, Per ! CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jan 3, 2006 Bottle, probably 7 months old: Pours a dark copper mahogany with a thin-lacing, light tan head. Pleasant, sweet toasty malty aroma has some bread and lager yeast character. Body starts with lots of sweet caramel malt revealing a touch of milk chocolate toward the sweet, authentic finish. A very malt dominated beer, but quite enjoyable and has some good complexity. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Aug 5, 2005 I like. It pours a slightly hazy reddish-brown body with a thick and dense tan head. The aroma is of toffee and juicy fruits (grapes, cherries, plums...) withy a handful of crushed nuts. Thick and creamy in the mouth, the flavor seems to have a brandy-like quality to it. It tastes like buttery toffee with a little fruity tartness and a definite hint of alcohol. The finish is sticky, warm, and buttery. U.S. breweries should do as decent a bock as this Namibian company.
