3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Papsoe (21782) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 25, 2008
(Bottle 34 cl) Clear orangey brown with a dense, creamy, beige head leaving laces. Aroma of roasted malt, Danish rye, nuts and and alcohol. Quite full-bodied with plenty of sweet, roasted malt, burned caramel and nut accents. Subdued bitterness. This really is a genuine malt bomb, and this is an excellent Bock. No denying that Namibia is an old German colony. 120508
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 omhper (15600) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 6, 2002
Dark nut brown. Very malty, crystalized sugar in the palate. On of uthe classier beers in the whole of Africa.
Sampled the 2000 version in March 2002: Richly, malty, loads of crystalized sugar. Well balanced with some late bitterness. Probably doesn’t develope much on bottle, but doesn’t deteriorate either.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Oakes (9997) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 24, 2001
Dark amber colour; heavy malt aroma and palate. A straightforward beer, but with a great depth of malt flavours, chewy and earthy, amazing when you consider how hot Namibia is.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Maria (7805) - Thisted, DENMARK - DEC 3, 2008
The color is dark, red-brown and the head is creamy. The aroma has notes of malt, syrup and raisin. The flavour has sweetness and loads of syrup and some raisin. In the slightly dry finish, I also find notes of licorice. The sweetness is a bit too strong, but apart from that, it is a nice beer.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Bov (7098) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JUL 7, 2003
bottled 2000, sampled 7/2003 - amber-brown colour, few head, complex aroma of licorice, cherry and smoke, malt, alcohol and tea, the flavour is tart and bitter followed by an explosive aftertaste of caramel, alcohol and malt - nice stuff, thank you, Per !
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 CaptainCougar (6747) - Boz Scaggsville, Maryland, USA - JAN 3, 2006
Bottle, probably 7 months old: Pours a dark copper mahogany with a thin-lacing, light tan head. Pleasant, sweet toasty malty aroma has some bread and lager yeast character. Body starts with lots of sweet caramel malt revealing a touch of milk chocolate toward the sweet, authentic finish. A very malt dominated beer, but quite enjoyable and has some good complexity.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ughsmash (5628) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 5, 2006
Bottled, BB 07/03. Poured a deep, hazy coppery-auburn with a very nice initial cap of caramel head... lots of sediment suspended in there. Nose was quite fragrant and sweet.. with rich darker fruits, almost smoky caramel, rich toffee, and herbal hoppage. The flavor department loses a step... blending all the characteristics from the nose into just a sweet malty presence. This came across as rather light and slick on the palate with strongly-laced alcohol. Finish was fruity with mild herbal bitterness. Carbonation held up well. This was a solid bock overall.
